hello Landover - seems like quite a ride here!

    Hi.
Wow, what an amazing forum! It’s a real hotbed of debate!
I’m a lifelong Christian from Hackney in east London, UK, but have recently found God in a new way. I grew up in a Christian family but Christ was pushed on me and I didn’t appreciate it. I go to the Church of St John At Hackney because it’s the nearest (and it is a beautiful church), but it doesn’t feel like ‘home’. I’m still looking around for new churches.

My favourite verse is probably “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you” (John 15:7) because it feels so empowering.

I appreciate that this place is full of very strong views – stronger than mine – but I am here to learn and understand. I agree with much of what I have read, but not all.

Looking forward to talking with you all, and please be tolerant of me, I’m new here! Thanks
    Mark

We might be more favorably disposed if you found God in an old way.

Accept Jesus as your Savior, and the King James Bible as his only truly perfected Word.
Jud 1:15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are unGodly among them of all their unGodly deeds which they have unGodly committed, and of all their hard [speeches] which unGodly sinners have spoken against him.

In your opening post you stated you found God in a new way.

I replied that we would be more comfortable if you did it the old fashioned way.

What's your favorite KJV Bible verse ??
Jud 1:15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are unGodly among them of all their unGodly deeds which they have unGodly committed, and of all their hard [speeches] which unGodly sinners have spoken against him.

And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood (Revelations 1:5) springs to mind.

i see what you mean now. I wish that my bible teachings earlier in life had more of an impact on me, but I'm trying to put things right.

Make sure to only use KJV 1611. Any other Bible you may have in your possession can (should?) be discarded. You can throw them away or burn them, it will not be an insult to God for they are corrupted versions of His Word.

As for strong views: there are only two kinds of views: God's views and corrupt views. Many people get exposed to corrupt views and think that they're following God's word. They are not. They simply take a watered down version with only the easy parts. It will get them nowhere (except Hell )
I take my orders from Jesus H. Christ, supernatural born US citizen

Be wary of false Kumbaya Christians who use a highlighter and scissors to read the Bible. God wants us to read the lines, not between the lines. False Christians will go to Hell:
            Matthew 7:22
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Asking a Christian to prove God exists is like asking him to prove his phone rings because yours doesn't. Make that call yourself! Dial 0800-get-on-your-knees-and-pray.
