    Greetings from afar!

Brother James Dewitt advised I introduce myself and here is my wise crack at it! So hello to all, my name is Sir Oral Essex the third. I am the son of Oral Essex Jr. and the brother of Amos Essex.

I don't know if this is the formal introduction the fine administrators of this talking board require, but it is my best attempt!

    So again, hello to all.

    Mr Essex.

What is your chosen denomination to our blessed faith? Do you have a favorite bible passage? Where do you worship. I would love to learn more about my brothers in Christ.

PS. Have you ever considered a name change. Oral is, how do you say, able to stray pure minds, when reciting your full name.

I heard he is a Homer, something about wind instruments.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

            Re: Greetings from afar!

So many inquiries to address! I must admit, my head is spinning a bit.

I hope it is acceptable among these fine people, but I choose the denomination of "non-denominational." Hah! What an ironic statement. I did not intend such a thing.

I very much enjoy the Scripture, Romans 3:23. It packs quite a punch, does it not?

On a personal level, if it is okay to say, I also enjoy Deut. 23:1.

"He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD."

Why do I enjoy this passage you ask? My late wife Agatha once entered into a discussion with a man that was deprived of his manhood by his wife because of infidelity. It was quite a tussle between the two, but my dear Agatha rose victorious and actually brought the young man to Salvation. We never brought the man to church for obvious reasons, but when I think on this Scripture, I always have fond thoughts of Agatha.

I don't mean to question you or anything, but what about terms like oral hygienists, oral surgery, orally breathing, or oral reports? These terms don't seem to stray my mind to unpure thoughts. Or the man Oral Roberts? Just a thought.

I understand that concern very much. But I dare not change what I am called by. It was my father's name, and his father before him. I do sense the underlying tones to it, but alas, it is something I must deal with.

Though it is quite the conversation starter! (And may I include, often leading to spiritual discussions with the unsaved. So maybe it is a blessing!)

So you belong to what church? By chance might you be a Worshiper of Mary?

Of course I am not! I thought I registered myself with the "non-denominational" denomination. (That never ceases to amuse me!)

Oh dear. Regrets kind sir. I cannot believe I let your question slip my mind.

I have been a member of Covenant Fellowship Journey Church in Trenton, New Jersey for many years. The teachings of the pastor relate VERY closely to the baptist denomination with the one alteration being a different view of the idea of alter calls.

I was informed also to re-direct my intentions of finding this forum. I came to this place simply to relate to like-minded individuals and let iron sharpen iron, if I may.

Thank you for clearing that matter up.

Unfortunately, I have never heard of the church you hail from and am quite concerned for your salvation. I would like very much for you to abandon your current set of beliefs and take up ours instead. They're much better.

I definitely would not be opposed to this.
