    Hello

Since the Pastor directed me here, hello all. I am a lost soul and don't know where I have been. I am not sure what to believe but have been reading many of the threads. I can tell this group knows the Bible and much of what you say makes perfect sense. I mean the scriptures you quote do mean exactly what you say. How do I find the right path?

Wow, quite surprising pastor. I thought I opened up quite well and about things more meaningful than the superficial items you asked about. Since you are concerned about such things I will accommodate.

How is it that you're not sure what to believe? Instead of reading these threads, you should be reading your 1611 King James Bible. Then you'll know what to believe, why you should believe it, and how to help others to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

Are you ready to accept that Jesus is really the "Awesome One"?

Are you a new member of the church and recently saved? I can see you only have a few posts. Perhaps you can help guide me being a new member and recent sinner (I only assume). Someone close to my level is just what I need to guide me.

I am indeed a newly-saved member. How can I help you to read your Bible, though? You must do that. You do own one, right?

Makes sense, I will begin reading the Bible. I do have a few questions though and thought you could help until I understand all of this.

You appear to be an older gentlemen. Since you said you were recently saved does that mean you will not go to heaven? I'm not really sure how it works. Since you had so many years of sinning, more than not it appears, does that mean it is too late?

Son, being you have failed to identify each and every sin along with what you have done to provide reparations for these sins, in excruciating detail, you do not stand a snowballs chance of being Saved(C).

I'm 50 years old and dismayed to know that would mean "older" to anyone. Being recently "saved" means I have wholeheartedly accepted Jesus Christ into my life as my best friend, copilot, confidant, and most importantly, Savior. Being "saved" means I have been spared from eternal torment in the flames of hell. It took me many years to come to the understanding that the Catholic church was a complete and diabolical sham. Sadly, my ex-wife never came to that realization and we were unable to contiue together along the same path, the path that leads ever downward. It breaks my heart to think about it, but the Catholic church has its hooks in her and nothing I could do was sufficient to rescue her from damnation. I have chosen the one true path to everlasting life and that path is narrow. Yet, with the help of the Godly pastors of Landover Baptist Church, I have discovered that I can find my way to be with Jesus forever and to avoid the agony of the eternal price to be paid for devotion to false gods. I no longer address my prayers to anyone but God and Jesus Christ. My days of praying to Mary and Joseph and whoever else it occurred to me to pray to when I was a Catholic are over for good. Yes, I was a papist polytheist, racking up Divine demerits at a ridiculous rate. I was at the communion rail several times a week, partaking of the malignant death cookie, thinking it all made sense. I had been brainwashed into believing I could be forgiven for my sins (no matter how grave) every Saturday afternoon by confessing to a robed pedophile in a dark booth who acted as a middleman between God and me and who deigned to mete out "penance" homework to me on God's behalf. That amounted to more prayers to Mary, the same one over and over and over, ad infinitum! I was out of control and, I thank God, able to know I needed help.

So, to shorten an already long story, here I am, washed in the Blood of the Lamb of God, dedicating myself to remaining forever in the warm embrace of Jesus' love with the blessed help of my Landover Family.

Are you ready to accept Jesus today, awesomeone? He wants you! He waits. He watches. He knows.

You said yourself that you have sinned, right? How did you ever come to that realization on your own?

By the way, one point Mr. Hutchins might have been tryiing to make, among others, is that you can't possibly know that I've "had so many years of sinning, more than not it appears" and that such a comment was extremely presumptuous of you.

As Mr. Hutchins was kind enough to suggest to you, I will accept your honest expression of contrition when offered.

                          Psalm 51:16-18 (King James Version)

16For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
18Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

It was a terrible assumption but you said yourself you were just saved. I only used the example to make a point for my question on when you can go to heaven. Can you get to Heaven after you have had so many years of sinning? Let's say someone (not you) sinned most of there life and then was saved. Would they go to heaven?

I'm confused, why would you be accepting contrition? Shouldn't that be for God or a preacher at the least?

Well, based on what you have said, having led a sin filled life to date, I suggest you detail those sin s that you know you commited. Then as you learn of other sins you have done, you can list them. Cronological order is not key, list each and every one in complete detail is.

I was not judging I just did not know how it worked. It just seems logical that if you have sinned most of your life you could not go to Heaven. Where is the division?
If a man decides to repent when the threat of death is not upon him, his sole motivation is to merely get right with God, you can never be too old. You have to be honest and repent ever single sin. God knows when you are hitting just the highlights.
Just so you know, many a evil man have been on death row, deciding to repent at the eleventh hour as the grim reaper was hovering near by, sharpening his scythe. God sees this and knows the repent is hollow and a last minute flail. Sort of like getting a Snuggie for the wife for Christmas. No one is fooled by this last minute action.
