My name is Rose. I live in Spring, Texas but I am currently traveling to my grandmothers funeral in Illinois.
I don't attend a church at this time but I do read the King James Bible at least once a day minimum.
I'm engaged but the wedding date isn't set until early next year.
I don't have a single favorite verse but I do love chapter 22 of Revelation.

The reason I registered was because I had some questions about fasting. I know Jesus fasted in the desert for 40 days after he was baptised by John and that may early Christians practiced fasting as a way to become closer to God. I was wondering whether many Christians nowadays practice it and whether or not they believe it helps them become closer to God.

I can not speak for all my Brothers and Sister, I do fast on occasion, I brings me closer to my Lord. It clears my head and cleanses my soul .

Psalm 35:13
But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.

Psalm 69:10

When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach.

How long would you recommend for someone who's fasting for the first time?

I can not speak for all the others. I fast sun up to sun up. I do drink water to keep myself hydrated. As for you, I do not know of your physical limitations. What Church do you attend in Texas? Can you share your testimony of Jesus with us?

While it is always good to meet a new potential True Christian™, two aspects of your post trouble me. First, you mention that you read the KJV 1611 once a day. Really? Just once a day? What do you do with the other 15 hours and 30 minutes of each and every waking hour of your busy day? Do you intentionally ignore Jesus the rest of the time?

Once a day is fine for false Christians, but as a True Christian™ I can honestly say that I read the Bible more often than I use the restroom, and I have a surgically damaged bladder!

The second troubling thing I found in your post was that you are going to be engaged for at least 12 months. Young lady, you are practically begging the Devil to tempt you with the unquenchable pleasures of the flesh.

To ask your nubile young body to wait for more than a year to take in the seed of your True Christian™ husband is almost unfathomable. You are a mere woman, and you seem to feel the need to challenge Satan thusly? You are on a fool's errand my dear!

My advice would be to get married as soon as possible, this week if you can squeeze it in. Then, you can immediately begin submitting yourself to your husband, praying earnestly each and every time that you shamefully submit to his many urges, that the Lord bless you to receive his holy seed in your fertile innards so that you can produce many, many soldiers for Christ! Glory!

Is your husband's career preaching like Reverend Jim Osborne, or does he do it simply as a side job..?
Also, is he well known for it, could I look him up?
Do you have your husbands permission to be accessing the internet?

Oh dear. Japan you say? We have quite a bit of experience with that particular brand of oriental. They seem intent on infecting the western world with all manner of perversions. Whether it is animated hermaphrodites or pillows shaped like young women, those clever Nipponese seem intent on foisting their perversion de jour onto the godly United States.

My prayers are with you that your fiance return to you unscathed. But understand this, the Japanese are insidious and conniving. Watch your man closely when he returns to you. Well, Michael comes from a pretty wealthy family so he doesn't really do it for the money. I guess technically it would be considered volunteer work, however he just calls it his Christian duty.
And, yes, he did give me permission. He sent me the link.

Professor: I thank you for your concern about my fiance's well being. I don't worry about that too much since he is a man of strong morals. Besides, even if he is brainwashed by the time he gets back, his father would knock some since into him with his own Bible!

Where exactly is your fiancee in Japan? I spend quite a bit of time over there in the Ornamental countries trying to bring a little Jesus to the slopes. They don't get it. The Holy Spirit alludes them. They's rather bow down to that fat chink Buddha than pray to Jesus.

I am glad you found this GREAT forum! All the people here are sooo nice and they know TONS about loving and being loved by Jesus!

I really hope your fiance gets back from Japan OK. I know that they eat weird food and that they have lots of vengeful female ghosts over there!

I saw The Ring and I was freaked out for like a WEEK! Just tell him not to watch any unmarked video tapes, to not try to talk to people that are sort of see through, and to never take anything from a dead persons house and he should be fine!
