  • Good evening

To start us off, let's throw in some food for thought:

I'm not here to troll, I'm here to talk. I'm fascinated by people who're as fundamentalist as you. For example: You say you follow the word of the bible to the letter, no? If so, why not go through with its prescribed punishments, such as stoning? Is that not part of its demands? How about restrictions, such as those on most seafood, and shaving? Leviticus has a plethora of wonderful laws that no one takes seriously anymore, but you should, no?

That's just one of the many things that I want to talk about. Rest assured, I'm not here to attack you for your beliefs. As much as I disagree, you're entitled to believe what you will. I'm not about to try and deny that. I just hope to be able to have (intelligent) conversation.

If you'd like to know about our church, start by reading THIS thread designed for n00bies.

Also, please use the "search" function before posting your questions. Most have already been answered elsewhere.

This is NOT a debate forum.

I will pray that the Holy Spirit enter you and chase the demons out of your rectum and let Jesus fill you with His Grace. If you use your God-given free will to reject Christ and His temporary death on the cross for my sins, then you are sending yourself to hellfire.
    Who Will Jesus Damn?

I wondered the same thing. I've been trying to gain knowledge on fundamentalist's perspectives while I'm on here as well.
      Alas, it is frustrating though.
They are intolerant and bring out the argumentative side of me haha.
      Nice to meet you though!

What makes you think we don't follow those rules. They are in the Bible, are they not? Why would you even want to eat shrimp anyway. It's disgusting. But that's kind of like asking why you'd want to use a man's pooper... also disgusting.

Don't blame us for the mistakes of others. We follow the entire Bible.

It is true that we don't stone homersexuals. This is because the Bible states clearly that we should follow secular laws. This is a problem that we hope to solve by the 2012 elections, however.

You don't have to repeat this, we are adults. At least you don't pretend to be a Christian, that's good. Sometimes atheists come here proclaiming they are Saved and then a few posts later they say God doesn't exist. Now THAT is distracting.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

I do believe I have been calm and reasonable, have I not? I'm not here saying "OMG UR WRONG I HATE YOU ALL". I'm just interested by your beliefs.

Also, I'm not an absolute unbeliever, though I doubt it makes a difference to you. I'm Christian. I just don't take it to your extreme.

NOTE: Extreme here is used to indicate severity. You take it word-for-word, which is the extreme, as opposed to not listening at all (the other extreme) or interpreting the Bible (the middle).

You keep stressing this point. About 1/3 of what you post is about how you are not here to troll. Why be so uptight? I don't get it. I would rather address your points.

Wouldn't you say that it's rather extreme that in exchange for about 80-90 years of time on earth, we get an infinite time in Heaven?

Also, what's wrong with following the entire Bible? True, there are some parts in there that are inconvenient, but who are we to decide what God did or didn't mean?

Well, imagine you are jumping over a large gaping hole. We make the extreme jump and reach the other side safely. The atheist doesn't make the jump and stays on the wrong side.

What do you think happens if you take a "middle" jump?

              Re: Good evening

Mostly because most of your members are quick to label non-believers as trolls. That's all.

Now, onto the discussion. The Bible was not written by God. At least, not directly. The Muslims have a stake on 'God's word'. The Bible is a series of writings from over 40 different writers, all sharing a common 'revelation': God. Thus, yes, they wrote about their experience with God. However, man wrote the Bible. Given, a good chunk of it was Jewish theologians, but there were portions written by men ranging from fishermen to kings. Once again, not God.

As for the extremes part, that's a false analogy. Religion is not a gaping hole. You can choose to see it that way, but there are far better analogies. I could use one, too: Take information on the internet. Some will believe none of the information they see on the web. Some will take some of it for true, some not true, depending on the information in question. Then, some will take everything on the internet as true. See? False analogies are fun!

Great comparison . What is the point of supposedly being Christian, and supposedly believing in God, but not doing what He said you should do? You know you're going to die and spend eternity in hell. If you denied that, then you'd be Atheist. In fact, if you ask me, if you believe in God but not His laws, then you don't really believe in God. I mean come on, the joos believe that Christ existed, but do not believe he is the son of God, and do not believe what he said. Do you consider the joos Christians too?

EDIT: The reason why we label you nonbelievers as trolls is because this is NOT a discussion forum, this is a forum meant to praise Jesus! And even if you choose to believe that God did not write the Bible, tell me, who wrote the Declaration of Independence? Thomas Jefferson? But he didn't write it, a scribe wrote it! But then again, who's more important, the pen or the author?

You may have noticed those non-believers were actually pretending to be Christians and ended up mocking Jesus and God. When there's a troll, we out that troll. There is no shame in demanding honesty.

Well, that answers the question why you are insisting that you're not a troll. Can you please be honest about whether or not you are a Christian? It is very lame to pretend to be one when you're not.

There is your problem in a nutshell. Interpreting is something that is done when a foreigner cannot speak American English. The Bible is the Word of God. It is as perfect as a flawless diamond. It it also timeless and as relevant today as it was in Jesus' day.

To say otherwise is blasphemy. There is no such thing as being partially saved. You sound suspiciously like one of those New Testament Only (NTO) believers, or a CINO (Christian In Name Only). Well, here are a few verses from the New Testament for you friend:

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

                    Matthew 5:17-19

The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

Please give me the 2 minutes of my life back that you wasted by using a false analogy. You seem to be using convoluted thought experiments to get around rather simple facts.

Jesus was recognized as a prophet because He fulfilled all prophecies, not just half of them.

Similarly, we will not go to Heaven on the basis of a half-hearted effort. See my signature for details.

If you want to build your house on sand, go ahead. But you will go to Hell. There is either rock or sand to build your house on. Nothing else.
