Hi, I just received a PM from Pastor Ezekiel requesting that I start a thread here to "tell everyone about myself, my church, and how I came to find Jesus." I'm honored for the opportunity to do all three.
About me. Well, I'm 33 years old, married and have three lovely kids. We live in central Indiana and believe it or not are actually not big basketball fans!
I enjoy baseball (both playing and watching), playing piano, and studying the Word of God.
About my church. I am a member of a medium-sized church (about 250 attendees each week) here in central Indiana. We believe that the Bible is God's complete and inerrant revelation to mankind (hence the user name). We believe that it is the sole authority for our lives and that only through the message contained in Scripture can anyone have hope of salvation from eternal hell. I'll expand if I need to.
How I came to find Jesus. The truth is, I didn't. He found me. Until about nine years ago, I did whatever I wanted with my life. Yes, I knew what Scripture said about some of the sin I entertained, but I rationalized away my sin with the false idea that since I was "saved" I could live my life any way I really wanted to - within certain limits, of course. Nine years ago after driving my own life as far into the ground as I possibly could, God brought me to the end of myself. It was then that He took hold of my life and would not let go. He removed the veil of wickedness from my eyes and finally moved it from my brain into my heart that simply saying that I was a Christian was not enough because that's all I was doing. If I really was saved then that fact would have manifested itself in my life to that point. In other words, I would have borne fruit in my life. It wasn't there. Not really. So, on a cool evening in November of 2000, I finally believed. Not only with my mouth, but also with my heart. The fruits of my life since then are the testimony of the reality of my salvation.
