  • Matthew 5:16

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

I've always loved this verse. It shows that we should glorify God in our daily lives so that other people will be impressed and praise God for His faithful followers. It doesn't always work, of course. There are many, many persons in this world who are hopelessly given over to sin and wouldn't know one of God's children if it bit them.

By the way, I just discovered this wonderful website and I am so happy to find such a fine group of Bible-believing Christians.

Praise the LORD and welcome. Tell us more about yourself. What Church do you attend. How many Soldiers for Christ has your wife borne you?
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

      Thank you for your welcome!

I have attended the Christian Life Center in Stockton, CA since I gave my life to the Lord almost 7 years ago.

Unfortunately, I have not yet found a good Christian wife, although I pray every night for God to send one to me. I know the best place to look is at church, but all the women my own age (I will 30 next month) are already bound for life to their own men. I have tried talking to some of the younger sisters, but they usually have to leave on an important errand within a couple of minutes. My weight might have something to do with that. I am working on that and with God's help I hope to lose 150 pounds by the Lord's birthday this year.

Have you ever considered that the LORD is blessing you with your weight?

Isaiah 58:11 And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

Thank you for that Bible quote, Pastor. It confirms what I've been telling people for years: I'm not fat; I'm fat-boned.

If only the young women at church would see it that way. Actually, there is one unmarried virgin who shows an interest in me. However, although she does not approach my weight, she is too heavy to suit my taste. I believe that a woman should keep herself in shape so that she can serve her husband effectively.

I will keep searching, though. And with the Lord's help, I will possess a fine Christian female before I turn 35.

Now that's the spirit and you even have the scripture to show them.

I quite agree. It's okay for you to be a bit plump, but your woman should never let herself go. Maybe you should try having a talk with the girl's father to get her on some sort of diet.

Praise the LORD and welcome again. I wishing you all the best in your search.

              Re: Matthew 5:16

              Welcome, friend.

I met my wife at a meeting of the Maranatha Bible College chapter of the Young Republicans just a little under 6 years ago. Her stirring remembrance speech for the recently deceased Ronald Reagan moved me to tears and awoke within me feelings that I never knew existed. Today, we are happily married with five sons.

So get around a bit. Christian bookstores, Tea Party gatherings, 4-H events... Make it a point to always attend any lock-ins or sock hops your Church is hosting. When you set your eyes on a girl, sit next to her and tell her of your experiences with God. Girls with strong faith love guys who are not afraid to show and express their faith.

Have you tried sharing your testimony with any of the young ladies?
              II Thessalonians 1:7-9
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power

The man who is being progressively sanctified will inescapably sanctify his home, school, politics, economics, science, and all things else by understanding and interpreting all things in terms of the Word of God and by bringing all things under the Dominion of Christ the King. -R.J. Bumping up so that Sister Sanctimony might read this and maybe find a husband.
