    Greetings

My name is David. I was saved by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in June of 1999 while stationed in Sacramento with the Air Force, in which I spent nine years as a computer systems operator. After being out of the service for a few years, I joined the Army Reserve as a Radiology Specialist. Currently I serve as member in an Independent Baptist church here in Missouri. Although I may not agree entirely with Landover's approach to the lost, so long as their doctrine is sound, it does say in scriptures...

Philippians 1:15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

(Please note, I use red for the whole Word of God, not just the words of Christ.)

Hello, David. What did you do before you were saved? You were in the Air Force. Were you a homer? I come from a long line of war veterans, but we weren't in no Air Force. All infantry.
If you disagree with Landover, you disagree with the Bible, the King James Version of 1611 anyway. 'Cause that's what we follow, and we follow it to the letter. Do you have a KJV 1611?

Actually yes I do, I have a 1611 Facsimile of an original 1611 version of the King James, I don't read it much because it is hard to read in the original type set using V's instead of U's and other differences in characters.

For study and discussion I use the King James Version as found on the Blue Letter Bible website as it has a easy to use search function, a built in easy to use Strong's Concordance, and other features. They do have other versions on the website, but I don't use them unless I'm specifically making a point about the inferiority of the other versions, or I'm trying to reach some thick skulled liberal who wants to argue some point about versions.

For church services I use a Cambridge King James Bible, given to me by a the Pastor of Harvest Hill Baptist church in San Antonio when I was down there for training. I picked the Cambridge King James version because some of the publishers like "World Publishing" actually change some of the words in the Scriptures. For instance, changing "throughly" to "thoroughly" in 2 Timothy 3:14.

Before I got saved, I had grown up in a "Christian home". I grew up between Salvation Army (which is an off chute of Methodists) and the Episcopal church. My father was a member of the Salvation Army, my mother had family from England, and was raised in the Episcopal church. I was "baptized" as a child in the Episcopal church.

When I joined the Air Force I went to a few Episcopal/Protestant services in Basic Training, but quickly fell out of church attendance totally by Tech school. I think the Lord still had a working in my life though and kept me out of trouble for the most part until I got to Sacramento, California. There I had a lot of time to read, of which I started out with "conspiracy" and "extraterrestrial" topics and moved more into the realm of abortion and spiritual matters with time.

I started feeling convicted about my "baptism" as a child and finding that I agreed mostly with Independent Fundamental Baptists, I searched out a local IFB church and started attending. Through my attendance there, during one service the Lord brought me forward where I accepted Christ as my personal Saviour. Shortly after I was baptized there by emersion, as public pronouncement of my6 faith and identifying my self with the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!

As for military service? My earthly father was in the Navy, along with several of my uncles. My grandfathers were in the Army. My brother-in-law, a marine.

            Re: Greetings

Welcome friend. I am glad the LORD has brought you here to fellowship with us.

So are you using the 1629 or 1638 Cambridge edition of the KJV? I've always considered the 1629 version to be equivalent to the original 1611 KJV, since two of the divinely inspired translators (Ward and Bois) both participated in the 1629 edition. I refer to both as the KJV 1611 just to avoid belaboring the point. I'm a little wary of the 1638 edition, though, since nobody can validate whether Ward and Bois worked on that one. Any editions beyond those are clearly the work of Satan, meant to sow discord amongst the flock.

Just to clear some confusion... were you referring to II Timothy 3:17?

Glad to have you aboard, brother! I was also raised by a false Christian mother (Pentecostal) and only came to find True Christianity™ seven years ago after overcoming a struggle with homosexuality. Without the Grace of the LORD, I would surely have run out of T-cells by now and be burning in hell with all the other dead homers. Praise Him!
