I believe in them. And I must honor my parents wishes, to be a catholic.

We believe in all of God's Commandments. There are over 600, not ten.

Honoring your father and mother does not mean doing everything they want. If your father and mother wanted you to sacrifice Christian babies to Mary, would you? Of course not!

"Honoring" and "unquestioningly obeying" are not the same thing.

I look at the bible as a tool to teach me about what is right and wrong. How I should live my life to be a good christian, and be a positive influence on the world.

You mean like the parts where it says that homosexuals, witches, and adulterers are to be put to death?

I believe it is to be taken metaphorically.

Deuteronomy 13

6 If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;

7 Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;

And many of you seem to take it out of context. How many of you have gotten John 3:16 (taken out of all context) thrown at you

I've had it thrown at me many times by people who pretend to be Christian. They ignore the key portion (highlighted):

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Praying to Mary isn't following what Jesus said.

I guess god wasn't able to keep his scribes in line, they were humans, they make mistakes.

Jeremiah 8:8 (King James Version)

8 How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he it; the pen of the scribes is in vain.

That doesn't say the scribes are misquoting the Lord. It says that the fact that they have written God's Word and Law down is "in vain", or a waste of effort, because the people are ignoring it. If you read it in context, instead of hunting down an anti-Christian site which claims the Bible is false and swallowing everything they tell you without critical thought or investigation, you'd understand that.

Frankly, you'd understand it if your grasp of the English language exceeded that of a high school sophomore . . . which is about what I'm guessing you are.

Jeremiah 8:9-10

9 The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them?

10 Therefore will I give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that shall inherit them: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

Meanwhile, you blaspheme by saying that God is so pathetic and weak that He who created the ENTIRE UNIVERSE cannot control the content of His own Book. You are saying that Danielle Steele has better control over her copyright than God!

The Bible MUST be what God wants us to read, because the alternative could only occur in one of three ways:

1. God doesn't have the ability to control the content of His Book, and is therefore pathetic and weak
2. God wishes for us to be confused and go to Hell, and is therefore malevolent
3. God doesn't exist

Which of those options do you wish to believe?

Who are you to say such things. I believe in the one and only Jesus. Jesus is NOT the bible, Jesus is written about in it. There is only one Jesus, ONE that is our saviour. I Believe in him. I am not deciding anything, accept for the fact the the bible is not 100% true and accurate.

SO. You believe in Jesus, but you don't believe the Bible.

You know of Jesus through only one source, which is the Bible.

But you believe in Jesus? How exactly does that work?

I mean seriously, the earth is ROUND not flat. But the bible says it is flat, so because the bible says so, then it must be true, and it must be impossible for it to be round because the bible says otherwise. People who believe that are really locked in a shell.

There is more than ample disagreement over whether the Bible says the Earth is flat. My congregation views such references (as to the four corners of the earth) as a figure of speech, not an attempt at "scientific" description of the planet.

Like every other atheist who comes here, you take the interpretation of Scripture that you believe is most damning, and use it to condemn God, while ignoring all other.

You don't believe God's Word and don't follow God's Law. You pray to idols and dead people instead of Jesus. Why do you think you will go to Heaven? Because you don't commit "mortal sins"? No such thing. Show me in the Bible -- not Catholic doctrine, the BIBLE -- the definition of "mortal sin" and why you think that some sin is OK with God.

James 2:10

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

We are all equal, whites, blacks, men and women. Rich or poor.

Please show us where the Bible says that "we are all equal". The Bible tells us that nonbelievers are worthy of execution, and that women are property. Who are you to contradict God?

The fact is that we all hate those few preists that have abused children and those certain priests are sinners and they should not be allowed in our church. We have had discussions about the issue at church and my priest agrees that it is discusting and that being a preist doesnt give them the right to do such things, and the fact is, most catholic priests would agree.

Actually this is completely untrue. The Catholic church has known for decades that this is going on and has done nothing to stop it. Known child rapists were simply transferred to another region if they got caught. And they didn't try to improve things lately because they figured out it was the right thing to do. They did it because by now everyone knows what is happening and they can no longer deny it. Strange as it may sound, it is not the child raping priests that are the biggest problem. The problem is the system that creates and maintains them. This system is known to most people as the Catholic Church.

I'm sorry, but I just had to point this out...

The 64% of the people polled...not 64% of preists are child molesters. I have been to many Catholic Churches and never seen any of them removed for this.

Jeremiah 8:8 is God saying (thru Jeremiah) to the wise men of the people of Jerusalem (who have twisted His Word, inducing the rest to worship false gods): "You know this stuff so well, do you? Why did I bother dictating it for you?"
