An idol is an idol because people worship it. Whether or not a statue (The Sphinx, say) becomes an idol depends on whether or not people worship the thing. The same would apply to a pyramid. If people started kneeling before it, bowing down or prostrating themselves in prayer then the pyramid would become an idol. But people don't do that, so neither The Sphinx nor the pyramids are thought of as idols.Originally posted by IUseLogik
