Please Hear Me Out. I Need to Know Some Things!!

I stumbled upon this website by accident earlier today. Before I found this website, I was convinced a a few things, chiefly among them:
1) I was a good Christian
2) Christianity is all about love, kindness, and forgivness
3) Christians aren't bound by Mosaic/OT Law
4) The Universe is ~14.5 billion years old, and the earth is ~4.5 billion years old
5) And many more things that I now suspect are wrong

I posted here with no real purpose other than to troll (and I'm sure there are a lot of trolls on this website), and ended up getting troll'd myself. However, two members really opened my eyes earlier by pointing to scripture and using actual LOGIC instead of bigotry. I now see that a lot of my deepest held beliefs are in fact false, and that'll take some time getting used to. While I did realize a great many truths today, I still have several questions, if any among you would be willing to answer without resorting to bigotry, racism, sexism, or anything like that. I was skeptical, but now I am genuinely interested in what *some of* you have to say. So, here goes:

1) What exactly is a Baptist?
2) Why are they better than all of the other denominations/why are the other denomonations worse?
3) According to Baptist doctrine, what is required for salvation?
4) Why do you think LandOver is God's favorite forum?
5) Why do you think God is sexist and homophobic? Is there actually scripture to support this?
6) Why are most of you Republican? I am a Democrat? Is that wrong in your eyes? If so, why?

I think that's all. If I think of anymore questions, I'll ask. Also, my first experience here wasn't very welcoming. If you're going to harass me from being from the South or being a Democrat or whatever, just don't post. If you can tell me a logical reason why I'm wrong in some respect, I'd love to hear it. That's why I'm posting.

So you admit you came here to disrupt our peaceful forum, and now you want our help? How nice.

Now, it is promising that you finally appear interested in The Word, but please, get yourself a KJV Bible, read it, and then maybe we can start discussing the questions you have. Right now, you're asking us for all the answers without even owning the book all the answers come from. Can you imagine a professor teaching a medical student about the cardiovascular system when that student does not have a textbook? Even if that student graduates, would you want him operating on you? KJV Bible. Get one. Read it. Then come back and talk with us.

Baptist, in the generic sense, is a broad range of Christian denominations which practice baptism by immersion.

Landover (and my own congregation) are Independent Fundamentalist Baptists. That means we follow the Bible (all of it, not just the nice parts), and also practice baptism by immersion . . . as did John the Baptist.

See above. We follow the whole Bible, as is required.

According to the Bible, it is required to believe in Jesus and to repent. That is, to beg Him for mercy for all your many sins, understanding how every time you break any one of God's COMMANDMENTS (not requests, not suggestions) you are spitting in the face of His temporary sacrifice . . . and then never to sin again. For as it is written in 1 John 3:6, "Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not: whosever sinneth hath not seen Him, neither known Him."

4) Why do you think LandOver is God's favorite forum?

Can you show me another forum which promotes following the entire Bible? No? Didn't think so.

5) Why do you think God is sexist and homophobic? Is there actually scripture to support this?

I don't think God is "sexist", nor do I think He fears homosexuals.

He does, however, make it clear that women are to be subject to men; Eve was created as "a help meet for Adam", that is, an assistant. See Genesis 2:18. If you read the Bible, you will find that God commands men to love their wives, but women to obey their husbands.

God is not afraid of homosexuals. He does, however, declare them abominations, that they are worthy of death, and that they will not enter Heaven. That means they will spend eternity along with the adulterers, fornicators, liars, thieves, murderers, and other sinners being burned alive in God's Lake of Fire. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)

6) Why are most of you Republican? I am a Democrat? Is that wrong in your eyes? If so, why?

Let's see: Democrats vote for encouraging homosexuality, murdering pre-born babies in the uterus, killing the elderly via "assisted suicide", and indoctrinating our children in schools with evolution and atheism. Why would any Christian support Demoncrats?

It seems to me that Christians should support the Democratic party for the economic reasons. Acts 4:35-37 make it seem like the Apostles (and therefore Jesus??) were actually communists. Perhaps I am mistaken though?

Do you think that the Apostles voluntarily choosing to pool their resources in establishing a church is the same as a government confiscating property from citizens by force so it may distribute it to those the government deems worthy?

Even if you thought government confiscation of private property was a good thing, how would you think it appropriate for Christians to support politicians who want to lead youth down the path to Hellfire and murder the pre-born?

Hello again, friend.

I can assure you that the Bible in no way teaches or condones communism. The key thing to notice in Acts 4:35-37 is that all of those things were freely given, as opposed to coerced by an arm of the state. The early Christians were more like a modern-day Christian neighbor association, which would help a member out if their house were damaged in some way (fire, flooding, etc.) through charity freely given, as opposed to a bureaucratic government agency deciding who gets what based on some arcane formulas.

Our Godly Rev. Rodimer seems to have clarified your other questions for you. Is there anything else you'd like to know? I'd be glad to clarify how a proper reading of scripture definitely supports any and all True Conservative(tm) values if you're interested.

Can I borrow somebody's shotgun or two? All of mine are broken from over use on Unsaved Trash. The Pinsir needs to be put out of his misery. Look at all the vile ideas he is throwing about like:

• Christians should support the Democraptic party
• The Apostles were actually commie scum

There are True Christian(tm) young ones reading these forums and they should not be subjected to this filthy nonsense.

It's good to see someone actually taking the time to listen to what the Bible has to say, rather than just assuming that all their preconceived notions must be correct. And don't forget that Jesus pretty much rebuked socialists and said that giving money to the poor was a bit pointless:
Mark 14:3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.
4 And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?
5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.
6 And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.
7 For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.

That, to me, suggests that schemes to abolish poverty are pointless.

Scripture speaks against the moochers who expect to live off of handouts:

2 Thess. 3:10-12: For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

1 Tim. 5:8: But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

Please bear the above in mind when deciding whether God wants us to set up a Nancy Pelosi nanny state.

Giving to the poor isn't always about giving to people who "won't work". It's more often giving to people who work, but don't make enough to feed their families. Single moms who work 2 jobs but still live paycheck-to-paycheck. It's about people who can't work because of serious injuries or mental retardation. People who can't get well-paying jobs because of conditions beyond their control, like their race, national origin, gender, etc.

The point I'm trying to make: those we collectively label as "the poor" aren't simply lazy bums. They often work back-breaking jobs and sweat their butts off from sun-up to sun-down.

You're reading more things into this scripture than God intended. Your bringing up Proverbs 14:21 is especially telling.
