    A factual discussion

    Hi
just to give u a quick background ,before you say i'm a God-hating whore
was raised in a baptist church and so on
when i was old enough to think for myself, 12, i started looking at other religion
i later started attending an episcopalian church (FYI i am American i hate hot tea and the king of Britain)
then realizing that they also were also lost souls i just quit altogether.
i have read the bible many times in many versions including the new James something (no offense but i can't remember, it's the one y'all read)

i make my decisions off of facts, not beliefs
i would be very joyed if someone would prove that the christian God is the real God

    BTW i consider myself agnostic
-i believe there is a superior being
-i don't follow any set religion
    -i don't worship the devil
-i respect Christians and have many christian friends

so please....let us keep this a civil conversation

    THANK YOU

How did you come to the conclusion that there is a superior being?

      Re: A factual discussion

Well, hello BBB, welcome to the forum.

I am sorry to hear that you've decided to go apostate, but maybe we can change your mind about that!

Would you mind answering a few questions for me though? If you believe in a superior being, do you think He doesn't take an interest in the world? Perhaps you don't think He's omnipotent? Maybe you can just give us a quick outline of your beliefs and we can go from there.

      Your's in Christ,

      Lycia
"Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him." But...

-i believe there is a superior being
I can see this is going to be a lot of work.

Ok im back. my internet has been acting up lately

          to you Mrs walker.
since i base my thoughts and stuff on facts i also base them on evidence
like say you take the big bang for example. what created the stuff that made that happen? exactly!! so there has to be some being out ther
(i don't believe in the big bang. its just an example)

          and to you Lycia
          i like the abbreviation
im not exactly sure if hes interested in our world anymore. nothing that hint him has happened since around the time of the Bible and Quaran (which both contain many facts and have helped archeologists find many ruins of towns in the promised lands)
and really all my beliefs are is that there is a superior being. there may be a heaven or hell. ill find out when i die won't I!! haha but back on subject.
i make my own life and decisions. there is no force that guides me in my life except my own.

          and mister wide-open??
Agnosticism is the view that the truth value of certain claims—especially claims about the existence or non-existence of any deity, but also other religious and metaphysical claims—is unknown or unknowable.[1] Agnosticism can be defined in various ways, and is sometimes used to indicate doubt or a skeptical approach to questions. In some senses, agnosticism is a stance about the similarities or differences between belief and knowledge, rather than about any specific claim or belief.

please know what you're talking about before you comment. thank you

Right. With you so far. Sorry for being stupid.

-i believe there is a superior being
            Lost you again.

So how does your copy & paste work match your belief in a superior being (i.e. a deity)?

please know what you're talking about before you comment. thank you
But what if I do, my dear recalcitrant?

ummm. there is no way to know that u are a pastor...just saying. and mister Wide-open is much better than dude wide open. that just sounds...bad

....im not a girl thank you very much. even though the way i type may be more leaning toward a feminine style then blame my gf. it wasn't always like this.

and i did not at all mean to cal you stupid. sorry if it came across that way.

and about the superior being belief....it's a BELIEF. not a fact
well. its a belief based on facts and the lack of to some degree
all religion is a belief. if it was a fact then I'm sure it would be much more popular. but really i just couldn't thing of a textbook definition so i hit up google.

and if you do know what you're talking about then this is going to be a very interesting conversation.

Glad you like the abbreviation, BBB.

So I'm a little curious about something you said. I see we both agree that the Bible is a great historical document, but could you list some examples of what you agree are historical facts presented in it? You agree that Jesus was a real person, right? And that he was crucified? How about the Flood and Noah's Ark?

I'm hoping we can get you Saved(c), I'd love to see you in Heaven one day!

                    Re: A factual discussion

a lot of historians read the bible and say hey they left this town which we know the location of and traved this direction because the sun is mentioned or something and in the bible itll say the traveled 3 days or so and the people will do a little math and go to the spot with a shovel and find the largest port town ruin thing ever. that really happened. cant remember the name of the places tho.

but about jesus idk. theres only one other book that even mentions jesus other than the bible and that was written by a crazy jewish guy who was enslaved by the romans to write about their conquests because he would make the jews seem more powerful making the romans see more noble and all that stuff.

but it has been proven that there was a flood around the biblical times of the red sea and many traders were caught out at sea because the placed they would normal set port to were underwater and stuff
