I'm going to be straight with all of you, I've never considered myself a Christian, my family is baptist (thus I am baptized), and I have very Christian morals, but I think of myself as an atheist (bracing for flame storm).
Im not here to hate, i've just been reading some of the creation science stuff and disagree, but it is what it is. so you all have a good evening, go with god or what have you, feel free to try and convert me lol, but i give you no promises.

in all honesty my good sir, my parents may say they are baptist, but its more like Christian when convenient (divorced, my mom is... eccentric, and my dad hasn't been to church in like 20 years).
I've never seen direct evidence proving or disproving god, but I am way to science oriented to believe in some of the stuff you guys believe. I'm to fond of theoretical astro-physics to believe in flat earth, or geo-centric theories.
just here for discussion more than anything, and I hope if anything to convince the people of this forum that atheists aren't all sodomites and amoral idiots.

then i might be against you, an enemy by your standards. I'm not going to hate on you for any of this, as that was a great use of scripture, but all things considered, shouldn't this forum be used for healthy debate rather than hate? there are too many dark corners of the internet for hating, and I've always associated Christian morals with positivity, and kindness, maybe not acceptance but thats ok.
I'm not going to be converted, people have tried for twenty years to convert me and it hasn't worked yet. But, that being said, im not an amoral anal sex loving sodomite, or gay, or some other weirdo, just a normal guy, who sees things more scientifically that theologically.

I'm polite and here for discussion, im not a loser considering at 21 years old i've had enough economic success to own my own house, but whatever to each his own. seriously though no need to hate, I'm not here to convert any of you, just to spark healthy debate.
mostly here to try and offset the absurd trolling of people trying to get you guys to fight with them for fun, by being the calm at the center of the storm for lack of a better term.

I don't understand how you can call us hateful. We merely preach the entire Bible.

When Paul tells us,

2 Timothy 4:1-2 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

And

You believe in the Ten Commandments, right? You're a good person. We believe God when He says that He curses people unto the fourth generation. We understand that a man's wife is his property. We believe God when He says the earth was created in six days.

Why do you have such a problem with God? Why do you hate Him?

personally im pro keep guns away from criminals, but pro give me a gun, I am a proud gun owner and believe that if people ignore a right it can be taken away, and full well believe that that isn't the way this country should be

As for direct evidence proving God, it's all around you. The sunrise on a dewy morning, gentle snowflakes drifting slowly on a mild February breeze, mighty waves lashing a windswept coast, thunder rumbling distantly on a hot August day, the innocent smile of a newborn infant, the laughter of children in the city park, the quiet tears of your husband when he lost his job, the joy in a child's eyes on Christmas morning, the frail grip of your mother's hand as she grasps you for the last time.

All of this is without meaning to you? It all arose from nothing? The universe was bored with not existing so it suddenly decided to exist? Give your head a shake. Or maybe slam it into something solid to drive some sense into it.

don't hate god, and I certainly don't hate you, you seem like a great guy. What I am saying about the hate is, throughout this forum it seems that if someone disagrees more often than not the person is called something offensive, not politely disagreed with, but hated on. which, at least in my experience, is simply unchristian, not evil but not normal in my experience.

if i could accept jesus as my lord and savior and still view the world from a scientific perspective, i would. But according to you guys I can't its an all or nothing thing, which i can't do.

by the way, the 10 commandments are what I base my moral code on, as i've said I am moral in a Christian sense, just not Christian.

I will get right on fixing the ceral lol, and as much as i can see the beauty in the world I find it much more likely that the universe is shaped by physics than an all knowing god. there is just so much to manage, multi tasking is hard enough imagine how god feels about controlling the entire universe.

sudden idea, stay with me on this, could god have created the universe like a clock maker creates a clock, so that it can run itself? is that at all possible?

and i would rather keep my head away from hard objects, I have dangerous enough hobbies (cars, and paint balling) im sure something will hit my head anyway

What kind of clock do you use in the world you inhabit? I ask because every clock of which I am aware the clockmaker has to wind it up once a day, once a week or once a month. Or he has to put batteries in it about once or twice a year? After so many years the clockmaker has to oil it and about every once in a while tinker with it or even rebuild it.

If this is what you meant, then I agree with you the universe is like a clock and the clockmaker, God, is continually here keeping things running.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Why the heck can't I drive a tank with a 50 cal gun on the top? I might be able to assist the police.

-and on the topic of the clock, what im referring to with that metaphor is that god made the rules of the land so to speak, and left it to run its course. Its a pseudo creationist perspective that can lend credence to science, while still giving god credit, kind of a win win for everyone.
