    Please stand for Dr. Zaius

    Hello LBC forum members!

First, you may be wondering, am I human or orangutan? Well, obviously I'm human. My name isn't spelled Zaius, but it sounds like it, so I've gotten used to the Dr. Zaius jokes around the hospital I teach at, and adopted the likeness as my online persona.

Also, I feel that the REAL Dr. Zaius was a true visionary who was looking out for the welfare of his people, like our leader, George Bush (although he is not a monkey).

Hopefully I can offer a little insight to some of the discussions that go on in this fourm. They get pretty heated!!

Around the office I usually respond to the Planet of the Apes jokes with, "Minister of Science, Chief Defender of the Faith!" followed by a couple of monkey grunts. They think I'm playing along with their movie game, but really it is a good slogan for someone who works with other scientists, but at the same time has to defend his faith to the athiests who dominate the medical field. Believe me, they don't want to even hear about it, much less argue about true religion.

Did I leave anything out? Well, happy new year to everyone!
    Ack!

This seems like it would be a joke, although I fail to see the punchline.

OH! Of course, I was getting to that part, too. I hope I can make my father proud and carry on a decent argument about Jesus without losing my cool.

I was raised as a 'general' type Christian; my father is a good Baptist, but my mother is a Unitarian (yuck), and she insisted that there not be too much religious discussion in the house. We had to go to TWO churches just to make them happy. When I was young I took to the Unitarian church because more children went there. They're pretty easy going. But as I got older, there were fewer people my age around, and I began to see that the Baptists that I worshipped with were the ones that were REALLY worshipping Christ, and not just cherry picking the 'nice' parts out of the bible.

I stopped going to that Unitarian church when I realized how many "same-sex" couples attended. I was still young, but I could see that THAT was wrong. Even apes are heterosexual.

Here is a passage from the bible that is profound to me:

        1 Timothy 6:19-21
        King James Version (KJV)

19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:

21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen

When I think of this I remember to tell myself to watch my tongue and speak only the truth in order to share the good name of Jesus.
        Ack!
