The time period that Christianity became widely accepted among the people is during the fall of the roman empire (kind of ironic isn't it?), which is the beginning of the middle ages.

Well, for one I do NOT think that god created the earth and all the people. But if he did I would assume it was so that he can feel special by having his minions bow and scrape and watch them try and follow all the rules he set for them, even the ones that contradict themselves.

I believe that Christianity is no true religion, but just something created in the middle ages to control the populace. It all originated in the ancient Roman empire, and it united the people and the church and politics of that age were one. You should never mix religion and politics.

I was directed to this forum through a link posted on Facebook. The link was to a thread you had about LOL Cats, saying they're demonic and other ridiculous things. I was literally laid out on the floor laughing at that one. I thought it was so ridiculous I thought it had to be a joke. But then I started to look around at other aspects of the forum. I began to see that you guys were serious. A lot of the things on here I just couldn't believe, like how could people still think this way after how far society has come. It was like being back in the burning times we learned so much about in history classes.

The introduction I gave is almost completely true. In high school, when I was about 16 and 17, I really did go to church twice a week, read my bible daily, keep a devotional journal, basically did everything that a good christian was supposed to do according to my church. But I was also suffering through a tough time in my life. I was praying to God to help me through my struggles, but they just kept getting worse. I didn't understand because I was trying to be a good christian I had joined the christian club at school even and was trying to lead others to Christ and attended a christian summer camp and the whole nine yards. But I just kept getting more and more unhappy. It got to the point where I was just so thoroughly depressed I would cry myself to sleep every single night. Then I started to see how contradicting the bible was. The old testament preached of a vengeful god while the new testament preached of a loving, caring god. How can you keep to the second most important commandment, "love thy neighbor as thyself", yet still beat your wife, see women as completely stupid and unable to think for themselves, be a sinner for wearing something made of two different materials, promote slavery, be racist, and a bunch of other things that aren't at all loving and kind? And why would god create a whole race of humans if we are to use the one and only life we are given only to worship him and when we get to heaven, that's all we get to do there, too? And that he would create people with disfigurements and disabilities and send diseases and famines and other such horrors, and then get upset when people would get angry with him. I did not like the idea of being a pawn of some all mighty god who is so self centered that he would do something like that. So I decided to take charge of my own life, be my own person, and enjoy the one life that was mine, the only life I would ever have. So as to why I joined here, I was curious, and I wanted to experience what this forum was like. It didn't take much effort to create an account and post an introduction. Now I know how the women in the burning times felt. Just look at someone the wrong way and the wolves jump on you.
