Hello everyone, this is my "formal" introduction, having posted a few comments on this forum prior to this.
I am a Greek Orthodox Christian who currently lives in the Midwestern United States. I attend my church once a week for Divine Liturgy, and occasionally attend other Church services (such as Vespers, Pre-Sanctified Liturgy, etc.) as they are offered and based on my schedule. I am a Conservative, who almost always votes Republican, because I find it better suits my religious and moral beliefs. In addition to my own church, I also attend a Catholic mass once a week (although I do not partake of Holy Communion at it, for I consider it to be sacrilege), and I attend other denominational Churches as well, including a Baptist Church, that a good friend of my mother introduced me to.
I understand that my beliefs are probably very different from some of you on this forums, but it is my belief that as Christians, the smaller differences don't matter as much (they do matter some however) as our one unity in Christ.
I was born and raised Orthodox, and I study my faith five days a week, ranging from Biblical Theology, to Church History (not only Orthodox History, but also Catholics, Lutherans, Baptists, Anglicans, and Presbyterians), to Church Doctrine and Dogma, again in all of the previously stated denominations.
I don't consider myself to be a "righteous" man. I sin as much as the next person, but I try to repent as much as I can, and turn back to God and try to fix my shortcomings. I believe that the Church is a place for the sick, who need Christ's healing and love, and I try to avoid the attitude of superiority that sometimes can come with the assumption that a person is "saved."
Anyway, while here, I hope to engage in some stimulating conversation, and hopefully come to a greater knowledge of God.
