I have been referred to this site from a friend as I have recently been through a life changing event which has shattered my belief in science.

What is it about Job 1:9 that appeals to you? The entire story of Job is fascinating, and I wonder what it is about that particular verse that strikes you.

Oh, and don't worry about what TheSwedishDud says...he was hitting on me in another thread, so he's probably a little dizzy from feverish homersexural thoughts.

I have spent my life being indoctrinated in the idea that science can tell us everything about life, the universe and everything, and it is only recently been able to break the shackles of this lie.

As a neophyte, I am looking for guidance on the issues of life but I hope you will be forgiving if I ask some questions on some of your forums.

A probationary Hello. The problem is that England would be entirely full of papists had the pope not refused a divorce back in the day. Now there's only papists and papists who don't speak Latin. But anything that weans you off the teat of satan-science is a good thing, a start. I too would like to know more of your life-changing event.

There are many ways to look at the trials and tribulations that God presents to us. Some see them as excuses to become panhandlers and Democrats, while others see them as "opportunities to excel."



Most folks when confronted with this dynamic will quote Friedrich Nietzsche, who wrote: "What does not kill me, makes me stronger."

He died from syphilis soon afterward.



Look instead to the beautiful words of the KJV Bible!

(Romans 5:3-5) "And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us."

tribulations -> patience -> experience -> hope

So simple, and yet so many people just don't get it. I hope you do!

I thought the Great War was WWI, and you didn't join WWII til the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor to pieces.

My Brother was referring to the Revolutionary War ( 1776) ya know the one where we tossed the damn English off American Soil.
