  • Hello folks

Hi there, let me introduce myself.

I'm an empirical agnostic hailing from Northern Ireland. Now let me underline that I am not here to troll or judge, I am simply inquisitive by nature and have been intrigued by the many discussions taking place on this forum.

I hope I am welcome to join in on said discussions and hope to chat to you all in the near future.

    Cheers,
    J

    Re: Hello folks

We talk about our Love for God. Are you planning to talk about your love for God too? Or are you planning to get drunk and throw epithets at us?
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

      Re: Hello folks

      Hi James,

      My name is James too

Sorry I wasn't familiar with the term epithet so I had to do some homework there, but I'm still not sure I'm clear on it! I must admit I do like a cold beer though!

As I said I'm not here with an ulterior motive or plan, I'm just always very eager to learn about other peoples cultures and beliefs.

      Cheers,
      J

        Re: Hello folks

Perhaps you should read so you are familiar with the subject before you ask questions and look the fool. May I suggest the KJV1611? Please report back in a few weeks.

          Hi James,

Did my introduction really warrant such a response? I apologise if I have offended you in some way, that wasn't my intention. I hope I can convince you of my initial statement, which of course was that I'm not here to troll, just here to learn.

          Peace,

Tell me, how do you learn? You learn by reading books, that's how.

You have already stated you have a strong opinon about God, and claim to want to know more. What better way than to read His book. It is a best seller after all.

And I have read all your other posts. I am far from impressed.

Please don't argue with Mr. Hutchins. He is a forgiving and loving man, but even he has his limits.

(Revelation 14:12) "Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus."

I'm sure the constant stream of whisky and the fear of leprechaun rape keep you on edge and therefor cloud your judgment, but please maintain your civility while at Landover.

              Yours in Christ,

                  Hi James,

On the subject of learning, I would be more of the opinion that one learns by example. Case and point: How does a young child or one who is illiterate begin to learn? They learn by being taught. Reading is not the first step in education.

I have stated quite the opposite opinion. Empirical Agnosticism by definition outlines that I would have a very weak opinion about spirituality.

                  See here for more info.

Finally, although I am here in peace as I have mentioned, my main objective was not to impress you James, and I must say I'm not wholly impressed with you either.

May I direct you here, where in post 5 Pastor Billy-Reuben states:

"If you are a Muslim, Catholic, Pagan, or other non-Christian, and you are here for some interfaith dialog, then this section is for you.

Welcome, friend. If you are here in a spirit of peace and wish to learn more about our religion, and want to teach us more about your religion, then you are welcome here."

                  Peace,
                  J

                    Hi Zechariah,

In response to your highly nationalist remark I would direct you to one of my favourite quotes from KJ:

"And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise"
                    (Luke 6:31).

Here I should underline that I would never dream of making a statement of that nature.

                    Peace,
                    J

                      Hi Nobar King,

I would just like to outline the common definition of trolling, which can be found here, the purpose of which being that I don't consider myself to be trolling.

                      Cheers,

I agree, it is best to learn by example, especially those examples in the KJV.
I was unaware you were an illiterate child, pardon my mistake.

I could care less what you think of me. This is not a popularity contest, This is about God. Stop feeling so self important because you are not. You are just a self admitted illiterate child.

Yes, we can teach a willing student more about God, but a child must come here with the basics, like a complete working knowledge of the KJV. If being illiterate is a problem, I suggest asking a grownup near you to read you the Bible.

It's heartbreaking when they get desperate enough to start posting Wiki links.

Please support your position using Scripture and your own thoughts, ONLY.

Or are you worried about what His Word will reveal about YOU?

(Hebrews 4:12) "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

I am afraid Brother Smyth, he will never be able to use his own words as he is merely an illiterate child and no one taught him. Copy and paste (do not eat it now) is all he can do.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

Although I'm not sure of your path to come to this next set of scathing conclusions, I will admit that from a standpoint of religious knowledge and experience I could be viewed as rather nubile, and "spiritually illiterate" if you will.

However I do trust that you are not contradicting Pastor Billy-Reubens outline of the nature of this forum, and are therefore enthused about learning of my beliefs in return for my own open-mindedness.
