  • Hello fellow Christians.

My name is Eugene. I am from Illinois, where I farm corn and soybeans, just like my father and my father's father and so on. It's hard work, but I still manage to rest on Sundays like the good Lord intended, unlike some of my neighbors. They say to me, "Eugene, why don't you work on Sunday? Don't you want to get your crops harvested before it rains?" I reply with a quote from 1 Corinthians 3:13..."Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is."

May the Lord for using the Internet before the day's work is done. I just wanted to drop in and introduce myself to my fellow faithful Baptists. God bless!

    Re: Hello fellow Christians.

It's good to see another possible future True Christian(tm) from the great state of Illinois (obviously not Chicago).

What area of the state are you in? Carbondale; Champbana; Bloomnorm; Quincy; Moline; Rockford; or Joliet?

While it's good that you are taking a day of rest (as our LORD did), I'm somewhat worried about your choice of crops. (Granted I'm no expert on "farming" but I did my share of "walking beans" and "detasslin corn" as a youth; but I don't claim to know the ins-n-outs of farming.)

Leviticus 19:19 Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee.

Corn and beans are mingled seed. You don't have a succotash field growing do you?

Hmmm, the Hackwith's, I'm not familiar with them; I did know a Eugene Ick; he had some great ideas on genetics.

I look forward to sharing more of the love of Jesus with you.

Ah, a reply. Heavens no, not Chicago! That city of evil practically controls the rest of God-fearing Illinois with their Democratic agenda. Sometimes I fear for my very life because I live 3 hours from that dreaded city, and day by day it grows closer to my farmland.

As for my crops, my seeds do not mingle, let me assure you. The two crops are grown separately, in different fields. So called agricultural "experts" say that you should rotate your crops, planting corn one year and soybeans the next to allow for nitrogen replenishment. However, I do not follow their recommendations for the very reason you specified.

And no, no succotash. It is one plant I will not allow my wife to grow in her garden, along with cucumbers (due to their phallic nature).

Have a Christ-filled day, my friend!

        Hello Eugene.

Welcome to our forum, friend. You will not find truer True Christians anywhere on the internet.

I'm not a farmer, but I have a small garden where I grow grits. I have six huge grit bushes. I love it in the fall when the little grit berries get ripe and turn white. I just lay a sheet down underneath each bush and give it a thorough shaking to collect the grits.

Pastor, how big DO your grits bushes get?

I bet all the little grits falling is like manna from Heaven!

Welcome, Brother Eugene. I will ignore the fact that you grow soybeans, which is evidence that you lead a decadent, vegan lifestyle, and also your slightly effeminate first name, because (a) you honor your father by carrying on his profession, just as he and his forefathers before him did, and (b) you have shown yourself through your posts in our forums to be a true man of God.

Please keep up the good work for the Good Book!

They are all between six and eight feet high and about four feet around. I get about 10 pounds of grits every Saturday between mid August and the first frost.

Hello, Mr. Smith. The soil that God has bestowed upon me and the Illinois climate are well suited for growing soybeans. It's not up to me what Godless, granola-eating, soy milk drinking hippies do with it once I sell it.

Did you know that they use it to promote their liberal agenda by turning kids "gay"?
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

Well, that's that. I just called up my seed representative and canceled this springs shipment of soybean seed. From now on, it's corn only!

Thank you, Brother Temperance, for showing me this article.
