I think that there is more to it then is said. i think that they left some things out. for instance when the bible was composed they left the gospel of Thomas out out of the bible, how do we know that they didn't leave some more inportent parts out.

Psalm 12:6-7: The words of the LORD [are] pure words: [as] silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

Isaiah 40:8: The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

Matt. 24:35: Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Therefore, one of the following must be true:

1. God has preserved His Word.
2. God has reneged on His promise to preserve His Word.
3. God was incapable of preserving His Word.
4. The Bible was never God's Word to begin with.
5. There is no God.

If you believe any of 2-5, then in what sense are you a Christian?

We also need to consider the implications for salvation if there were no preserved Bible:

Matt. 4:4: But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Matt. 7:21: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

If we did not have an accurate record of God's words as they proceeded out of His mouth, and in particular of His will, salvation would be impossible.
