But if you join the US military you will get to be one of George Bush's Gody army and execute vengeance upon the heathen:

But of course instead of a two-handed sword you get a modern military weapon, and instead of binding the heathens with fetters of iron you can toss 'em in Abu Ghraib...or just shoot 'em on sight.

Originally it was a sexual lifestyle. Wicca was created by a retired British civil servant, Gerald Gardner, in the late 1940s and the 1950s. One of his prime motivations was to put himself in a position to sexually "initiate" new converts to his "coven". The cult he created was mostly based on his own imagination, with many of his "spells" plagiarized from the crackpot writings of Aleister Crowley. Doreen Valiente later contributed quite a lot of to the "religion" of Wicca.
It's important to realize that Wicca is an artificial, fictional religion which was created in the middle of the last century. None of its rituals, its spells, or its mythology come from pre-Christian Europe...or from anywhere but the imaginations of Crowley, Gardner, and Valiente. It's as artificial as Scientology, created by L. Ron Hubbard at about the same time.
