  • I am honestly shocked

I am a Christian and have been one for as long as I can remember. However, coming upon this forum honestly shocks me. Please tell me that this is all a joke because I can not honestly believe that people would take Jesus' teachings and would hurt or kill in the name of them.

Truly, Mr. Reems, I was horrified when I arrived at this site, as well.

I couldn't believe the number of people coming here to disparage Jesus and His Word, the Holy Bible.

They claimed that God loves sinners! They said that He does not support abortion or genocide! They claimed, in fact, that Jesus and God do not have the same thoughts . . . which means these antiChrists denied the Trinity!

    Well, I was horrified, indeed!

In time, I realized that the True Christians(tm) on this site volunteer their time to ensure that liberal so-called Christians -- you know, the sort who think that John 3:16 is the only verse worth looking at in the whole of God's Word, and who wish to ignore Numbers 31 and all the other parts that make them uncomfortable -- learn God's Truth.

Naturally, I volunteered my time to help!

Would you care to join us in helping share God's Love?

Also, why not introduce yourself a bit more? Perhaps you could tell us your favorite Bible verse, and how long you've loved Jesus?

    Thanks!

Mr. Reemes, as Sister Jenny implies, the Lord sometimes tells us things we do not want to hear.

But we must listen to His voice, whether He speaks in our hearts or in scripture.

You express shock on reading that "...people would take Jesus' teachings and would hurt or kill in the name of them."

But Moses was a righteous man and a prophet, and he had his soldiers commit exceptionally brutal massacres: because God told him to. You wouldn't be shocked at Moses' actions, would you?

God has not given us a comparable military command for our times, but what we are trying to convey here is the proper attitude for the Christian fighter against sin. God has told us that evil will not win, that He will triumph; but He has also told us that we must not stand by in that great struggle. We must not be idle spectators, clapping when Jesus throws the devil for a fall, groaning when the devil corrupts a thousand more souls.

We are participants in the greatest of all wars: God's war against sin, against evil, against rebellion against Him, against the deniers and haters of God.

This battle is God's total war against sin. As the Psalmist cried out against the unrighteous who tormented him, who gave him gall and vinegar to drink --

Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous. Psalm 69:28

-- so shall the enemies of God be blotted out. And Christians, as participants in the great battle, must often be the agents of that blotting out of evil.

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. Matthew 10:34

This is Jesus' promise: that the sword shall rule until the enemies of God have been vanquished. He has not come to bring peace...but a sword.

Of course this is the foundation of much of Christianity: the core idea of a war in which God's people triumph over their opponents. It is implicit in the tale of the Benjaminites, the unrighteous rebels whom the eleven tribes smote at Gibeah; it is in the stories of Saul and of David; it is the main theme in the book of Revelation. God's people shall have dominion, but we are called to fight.

We are not on the sidelines. We are not in the stands. We are in the arena, warriors of the Lord. Fighters commanded to vanquish the foe. We are not called to give the enemies of God a pat on the back.

      ~~ OEJ
