  • Good evening from St Nicholas Church, Wetwang

Greetings to my American Brothers and Sisters in our Lord Jesus Christ.

I am a newly ordained Anglican priest and am in partnership with a more senior priest at St Nicholas. I am pleased to be a part of IAWN - the International Anglican Women's Network. Perhaps some of your women would be interested in joining the group.

    Our Purpose
To enable and empower all women of the Anglican Communion to work cooperatively at national, provincial and communion-wide levels to strengthen the ministries of women in God’s world and to ensure women are influential and equal participants throughout the entire Anglican Communion.
God is so loving and wonderful! I wanted to reach out to you in the spirit of international friendship and church unity. All Christian churches should be as one and pulling together to bring the bounteous love of Jesus to all people of the world.

Also it is important, don't you think, to build strong links with people of other faiths.

I found Jesus when I was a rebellious teenager. I suddenly realised that the Christian girl I had been bullying at school and always turned the other cheek to me was right and I was filled with the love of Jesus from that point on. I owe her so much and she has been a part of my life ever since. Together our faith in the Lord is unbreakable and nobody will put us asunder. In the fullness of time our union will be celebrated in front of God. Love is wonderful, don't you think!

I look forward to forging strong friendships between our two communities and gaining new insight into the ways others worship around the world. After all, we all love the same God.

My favourite Bible verse is in my signature.

What do you mean, "empower women"?

That seems to me to be quite dangerous as it goes against the LORD'S own Word,
Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
    (1 Corinthians 14:34)

A woman should learn in quietness and full submission.
    (1 Timothy 2:11)

I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. (1 Timothy 2:12)

To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."
    (Genesis 3:16)

I love the LORD my God, my Savior and Redeemer. I would never go against His will by trying to be "empowered."

Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

      Hello Waynetta!

Is that a halloween costume you're wearing?

        Hi, Waynetta!

The Anglican church frequently violates direct commands in God's Word -- for example, ordaining women.

How do you reconcile this with your claim to be a Christian?
        Bible boring? Nonsense!

You can't be a Christian if you don't know God's Word!

I have the greatest respect for women who seek to follow a more traditional role. It is your own personal choice, of course. So long as you are happy.

So many churches have so many wonderful different ways to interpret God's word and all worship Him so magnificently. Some more modern women have a desire to be more equal partners in worship and I myself felt driven to become a priest. But mothers are fabulous and give of themselves for the Lord.

Marriage is a partnership, after all, and all women should strive to fulfil their lives as they see fit. Who am I to tell you how to live your life?

Good evening Zecharia. what a cute Biblical name you have. You were so lucky that it is fashionable in America to name children after Bible characters. I think my own dear daddy wanted me to be a boy and would have named me Wayne.

I don't really hold with celebrating Halloween by dressing up as it isn't a British tradition, it's just something people do for commercial reasons since British Kids saw the film, ET. So it's not a Halloween costume. Do priests not wear similar clothes in the US while going about their duties?

Christian churches don't have priests, Waynetta. We have pastors.

Only Catholics and Anglicans (Catholic Lite) have priests.

If by "while going about their duties" you cryptically mean "while molesting young boys" then I suppose the answer is yes.

Thanks you for complimenting me on my name! My parents really picked a good one for me.

My choice and my happiness have nothing to do with it. It is the way God created me. My female parts means I am created to bear the sons of my husband. A quiver full of them, if I seek to glorify the LORD and honor my husband.

Well then God sent you to the right place! See, we here at Landover Baptist Church forum recognize that regardless of how so many churches choose to interpret God's Word, we interpret it the way God Himself wants us to. That is, we don't gloss over those kinds of verses that make us feel uncomfortable by today's standards.

Certainly not! There's no reason to be insulting. I am a True Christian™ woman who loves the LORD and will obey his every command because I know He has my best interest at heart.

I understand that it's difficult for a 'priest' in a 'church' in an atheist-dominated country like England to hold fast to Biblical values, dear, but that is no reason to be insulting to those of us who do NOT compromise God's commands in order to 'move with the times' or appear 'trendy' and 'relevant'.

Is that how you will explain your disobedience to Him at Judgment? "Sorry, Lord, your commands weren't convenient or trendy"?

You still have not answered how you reconcile your taking a leadership position in the church, contrary to God's Word, with your claim of being Christian.

I'm sorry if I offended you by missing the "h" off the end of your name, Zechariah. What a cute face you have. I'd pinch your cheeks and woggle them like I used to do with my little brother if I could.

I hope this doesn't come between us as you seem a little grumpy.

As you were quite friendly at the start I was wondering if you could explain why the Rev and Mary are so down on me being a strong Christian woman leading her flock?

Here in England we have got used to the idea that women are equal to men and that there's nothing to be scared of by letting us lead congregations. Some old fashioned people still have a little moan from time to time but once they see that we are just as Holy as the men they soon calm down.

I'm still new at St Josephs and under the wing of Rev Fletcher but you'd be surprised how quickly people accept new ideas that do them no harm.
