If only you could get past you prejudice against people who acknowledge that the Bible very clearly says that (for example) the gaywise should be put to death you would at last have the enlightenment about the true nature of God that I'm sure you desire.

Hi Anna, it's always great to talk to you! What you need to do is to see this whole thing from our perspective (even though you need not hold these view).

As we believe God is real (as revealed in the Bible) we must ascribe to Him the traits the Bible specifies that He has. The Bible the only source of data about God.

As we know, this means God is loving to the people who follow His orders (gays should be killed etc) even though at first blush His rules seem harsh, arbitrary, cruel and counter productive.

But we have faith in Him that it is for the best: just like the young private puts his faith in the scary drill sergeant. The sergeant may make the private do really strange things but it is for the right reasons.

If you can model our mindset you will see the True Christian™ is internally consistent and logical.

1 John 4: 3-5 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

1 John 4:9-10 9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Do you mean Evil Queen instead of Evil Qvin and if you were being sarcastic the least you could do is use the "Ooh the sarcasm" smilie to let us know you were being sarcastic, because like Mrs. BelieverInGod mentioned before me, you're not very good at being sarcastic, so it is hard to tell when you are in fact being sarcastic instead of being serious.

These verses are from 1 John. Wikipedia relates the story of this book:



The bolded part is reinforcement of the "by their fruits shall ye know them" of Matthew 7:16 and Matthew 7:20.

And in context, we see that that is clearly NOT addressing everyone but only believers:

1 John 2:4 "He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."

1 John 2:5 "But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him."

Notice how it doesn't say that EVERYONE is in Him?

1 John 3:23 "And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment."

Not "love everyone".

And again, for those who didn't get the message the first couple of times:

1 John 3:24 "And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us."
