In a thoroughly excellent book study that walked through the book, "What is a Healthy Church Member" by Tabhiti Anyabwile, we discussed what it means to be truly converted. We discussed the need for a heart change that radically changes the way we think, act, and perceive our sins.

Well that's nice, but what does the LORD Himself say about it?

Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not:
whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning.
For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him:
and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

We can see that the "heart change that radically changes the way we think, act, and perceive our sins" is done for us when we become new creatures (2 Corinthians 5:17), slaves to a heavenly master (1 Corinthians 7:22). Just as an earthly slave does not act on his own accordance, neither does a slave of Christ. If you act according to your own design, you are not a slave of Christ, but a slave to sin (John 8:34). He who has been saved is no longer a slave to sin (Romans 6:18). You can see it's quite simple when you stop trying to apply modern philosophy and simply trust the Word of God.

Last I checked, I have a Biblical understanding of my own sin, my condition and condemnation apart from Christ, the Redemptive power of what occurred on the cross, and the repentance needed for Salvation in Jesus Christ.

No, you have Tabhiti Anyabwile's understanding of sin and redemption. If you want to trust her for Salvation, go right ahead, but you won't be Saved by putting your faith in her.

I begged God then and there to give me a desire to obey His will and to redeem my wretched worthless soul and to use me as an instrument for His glory. I asked Him for humility, teachability, grace, mercy, and love as one of His children. I did not find Jesus. He came and plucked me from the fathomless depths of my sin. My understanding is not mine. It is only granted by Him. Daily I strive to overcome my sins, and by God's work in my life, I am able to overcome a little more each day.

That cognitive dissonance you have between what you want to believe God wants and what God really wants says it all. Of course, being the victim of brainwashing, you wouldn't know this. Not an ignorant question at all. As I beleive it the literal interpretation of the Bibile I have to conclude God was smiting him with the atherosclerosis.

Pharaoh ignored Jesus' love message and reaped the reward of not heeding His obvious message.

No. There is salvation for all who have not blasphemed the Holy Spirit and who will repent of their sins, even darkies.

But how often do homos repent? In this day and age, not often, as they are instead encouraged by sinful society to continue on in their conduct and sue decent, white Christian people for preaching to them. It is a truly sad state of affairs.

However, if they cast away this evil lifestyle and repent and come to Jesus, then they can be saved. We have several True Christian™ ex-sodomites among our membership here. By the grace of God they will be allowed into His Kingdom.

Sarah, althouh I found your introduction heartwarming, and one of the best I have seen in a long time, this worries me. Is this son of Ham a True Christian, I do not think so as I have not seen him post here. I would be very careful about taking advice from one of the servant classes.

You have certainly rubbed me the right way, with your respectful tone, very well-written posts, and willingness to follow the rules. To me these are all very good signs.

I sense there is great hope for you, once you cast away the emo issue.

I am teachable to the Word of God. If nothing else is true, He has done a great thing in allowing that much.
