there is something called Purgatory. It's like a hot shower of flame that cleanses your sins. So if I chose to be with God and felt sorry for all my sins, even at the last second, I will hit Purgatory, which will secure me a spot in Heaven. That's His mercy, not hell.

Now, I can't find any mention of "purgatory" in the KJV Bible. Purgatory is an invention of the papists.

Following your analogy that's a bit like challenging a Trekie over the actors name in a given Star Trek episode.

Did Richard Dawkins write a book about the real nature of Christianity for atheists or something that I missed?

Well, one doesn't necessarily have to be a Trekie to know a few things about Star Trek. Ditto for an atheist and the Bible. But atheists fail to understand that a Christian's understanding of the Bible does not come from just reading it. So they think that saying "Hey, I read this in the Bible and it doesn't make any sense." will actually win them an argument here and there.

So yeah, Dawkins and Hitchens wrote a lot about the real nature of Christianity and all other religions. But don't waste your time...
