    Hello and Guidance

    Greetings friends

After spending days perusing the content on these fine forums, I feel I should introduce myself and present to you all the reason for my registration. Sadly, I live in a land taken over by what I now recognize as sinners and feel that this message board may be my best bet for spiritual guidance.

While I was born into a Christian family, and baptized I was never a practicing Christian. While I didn't consider myself a "bad" person, my recent re-birth has proved that my previous years were smeared with sin and complacency. I even went to a Christian school where I was mandated to attend chapel every morning. Sometimes I would fall asleep and once I even let off a stink bomb I had bought at the It Store the day before. To be blunt, I did not understand the word of God and didn't care.

Three weeks ago I woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of a light so bright I was blinded. Somehow though, I felt an overwhelming sense of ease. I saw a figure, however the light behind it was so bright I could only make out a silhouette. Suddenly, as if hit by a cattle prod, the sins of my life flashed before my eyes and I was delivered a message. I did not sleep for the next three days and immediately purchased a Bible.

The Bible speaks of of spiritual re-birth:

    John 3:3
Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

    2 Corinthians
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

I guess my question to you all is, is this legit? I have determined that from this day I will devote my life to God but need some guidance on next steps.

Secondly, was that God that I saw? What should I do with his message? Has God spoken to any of you?

Thank you for any insight or guidance you could provide.

    Re: Hello and Guidance

So far it's not very reassuring, you quote John 3:3 as:

"Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Therefore you do not use the KJV 1611.

If you had bought the KJV I'd be willing to entertain the possibility that JESUS had decided to give you a wake up call before you went straight to hell.

Get a proper Bible and get on your knees.

    PRAISE THE LORD!

      Thank you for your reply.

Firstly, I purchased the bible AFTER my spiritual experience.

Secondly, if God appeared before ME to inform ME that I was to be HIS prophet, who are you to suggest otherwise?

Did the bible (1611 King James of course) not say in Peter 2:16:
But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumbe asse speaking with mais voice, forbade the madnesse of the Prophet.

Perhaps you misunderstand the point. If this was truly the LORD who took all your sin, you would be the first to ever undergo Salvation without the caveat of first repenting of, and subsequently confessing these sins (Romans 10:9). If you had truly been created anew, you would have been drawn to the LORD's Own Holy Word, conveniently printed in American in the King James Version Bible, free at your local baptist church and terribly inexpensive at your nearest Walmart, as well as being offered online 24 hours a day. It is entirely possible that you have been duped by Satan, dear (2 Corinthians 11:14).

You mean 2 Peter 2:16, dear. And unless you comparing yourself with an ignorant, sweaty, Shylock of the desert, you would be mistaken.

In any case, what church do you now attend? What is your favorite way to praise the LORD Jesus every day?

Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

          Once again a reserved welcome

As I mentioned earlier the wrong choice on the "bible" led me to discredit your interpretation of events.

Furthermore, your obvious difficulty in just reading and quoting the KJV makes you an improbable prophet. I'd avoid delving too much on the false prophets part yet, you might be a victim of satan and salvageable.

I was as gentle as I could be, maybe it was satan but JESUS led you here to be corrected and maybe walk with HIM someday. We are here to do HIS work when HE leads people to HIS favorite forum.

          PRAISE THE LORD!

            Re: Hello and Guidance

Welcome I think if you were chosen to be His prophet, you would have known to buy the KJV Bible (but as you say, who am I to argue with the Lord?) I suspect that you were so overcome with meeting the Lord, that your mind was overwhelmed. So, get the right Bible for a start and start reading it from Genesis to Revelation. Then confess your sins. We are accustomed to hearing the most depraved stories on here, so don't hold back. Tell all.

I think it's wonderful that you have finally found Christ. Kneel before him and open your mouth in praise to receive him into you. Glory!

              Ralph,

I am perplexed by your statement that you woke to a "sound so bright." Usually a sound is loud, not bright. Are you making this up to tease us into believing you had an experience that you truly did not have? Jesus knows the truth and He has no place in Heaven for liars (Proverbs 17:4). However:

Jesus brought you to us; of this I have no doubt. So, there are things we would like to know about you. First and foremost, are you married? Are you of strong mind and spirit, muscular, full of kindness?

If the event you described is true, surely GOD has a purpose for your life and you have discovered the only forums on the interwebs that Jesus Himself visits at least once a year. Our God is an amazing God, undescribably large and incredibly able to hear billions of prayers at once while making instantaneous decisions regarding your future and everyone else's, rescuing puppies, deciding who wins basketball games, and healing all manner of diseases except the common cold. Surely He will shew Himself unto you as you fellowship with us for it is His will; but if He does not, it is because it is His will. PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW!
