Only by reading the Bible(KJV1611) and accepting Jesus into your life can you be a believer: there are no short cuts.

If you want to avoid the Lake of Fire you need to accept Jesus.

Psalm 9:17 "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God."
Mark 9:43 "And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched"

    Simple.

1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

Revelation 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

I have tried, however some disturbing parts have kept me from doing so.

        What sort of "disturbing parts"?
Remember, the whole Bible is the word of God.

            My Dear,

Read the whole Chapter, as Sister Mother of Seven instructed you. Read the whole KJV. These issues arise when you take verses out of context.

The beginning of the Chapter describes the GOOD THINGS you get if you follow God's commands. Then there are these verses (Leviticus 26: 14-16):

But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments; And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant: I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it...

What's the issue?! God wants you to obey and fear Him and do His bidding. Failure to do so results in disastrous consequences. It's not about what YOU like but what GOD requires.

            Yours in Christ,

            Elmer

That is why you must obey the Lord in everything. Love the Lord, but fear the Lord. Terrible consequences befall those who fail to do so.

But surely cruelty cannot be the way to go... If he wanted to punish someone, he could send the man to eternal hell instead of showing his wrath by cannibalism. Also wasn't wrath a sin? And just asking, do you like shrimps?

In the light of Numbers 14:18, it could be considered quite merciful that the children should die.

The LORD [is] longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing [the guilty], visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation].

It's not about what I or we like, it's about doing God's will! You're certainly referring to OT food restrictions. Please, read some of the stuff here (the link is just one example) and you'll get detailed answers. This is supposed to be a thread of you introducing yourself...

We are not to tell God how He wishes to punish those who refuse to do His bidding. Not I, not you. He has expressed his will, His commands and His punishments in the KJV.

Sinning is doing against God's will. The commandments are for US. God is not an entity that has to comply to your petty logical riddles. That is cat lick scholastics talking. They claim that God can do anything "that is logically possible". But the REAL GOD, God of the Hosts, is not bound by our logic that derives from pagan Grease. He can do ANYTHING, he is not bound by these laws the scholastics wished to impress upon Him.

Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

God is what He is. He does not care about your out-of-context quote mining or definitions of sin. HE IS. And, don't worry, in addition to the punishments described in Leviticus, Hell will also be known to you eventually if you continue your business as usual.

Matthew 13:50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

                        Oh dear, oh dear child!!!

Of course You have your free will. If you do not like the things GOD wants you to do, you can choose otherwise.

In the very beginning, GOD gave human the right to choose Genesis 2: 16-17
That is how GOD loves You: You are not forced to obey. You can choose not to obey and burn in hell.

You talk like God's earthly punishments and His eternal punishment are mutually exclusive. It's not a case of doing one thing instead of another. The punishments described in Leviticus 26:16 (and elsewhere) do not end with the sinner's death. Eternal damnation to the Lake of Fire is the fate of the sinner, even if he has already been punished in this life. And quite right too!
