Don't Give Dried Figs as Gifts

I have sympathy for those who want to buy beautiful boxes of dried fruit as gifts. They look so attractive.

Be careful. In Mark 11:12-14 Jesus was hungry. He found a fig tree but it was out of season for figs. This made Jesus very angry. "May no one every eat fruit from you again." He killed the tree.

The lesson in this passage is clear. We are not to eat figs. When you order gifts of fruit for friends and family, don't make Jesus angry.

Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

Does this apply to all figs, Brother Mr. Mayor, Sir, or just those from Bethany? Obviously they couldn't be from the same tree, which Our Beloved Lord quite rightly zapped to death.

I would tend to avoid pretty much anything from Bethany, what with it being the home of Simon the Leper. You can't be too careful, can you? But those figs are from Kalamata, which is in Grease. Mind you, Kalamata is more famous for olives. And (thanks to poor illustrative skills) the label could show either figs or olives. It is all very confusing. I shall continue to avoid both.
Vaccinated by the love of Jesus!!!
