We agree that the raping man must be punished. This is extremely good news. Now, we only have consider a suitable punishment! Why not leave it to God to decide what the punishment should be? As it happens, God has told us how to punish the man.

Deuteronomy 22:28-29
If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

As a married man, if I may, I'd also like to point out that this is extremely severe punishment. Prison sentences are transient (usually) but a marriage is for a lifetime. The punishment should reflect the repulsive nature of the crime and I think God (as always) really finds the most excruciating ways to punish sinners.
