I am Portuguese and I have been to a lot of places in the world (who said the Portuguese are too poor to travel - maybe YOU are) and still I know how not to mistake some bad experiences for a whole nation and its people. If you payed 2000 dollars for an apartment which didn't sastisfy you maybe that's because your low IQ doesn't enable you to make a good search, for example. And what the piffle is it with the Catholic Church? Isn't it part of the heritage of the country? No one knows what the piffle you religious beliefs are! About the waitress... I lived and worked in Portugal for 30 years,in that time employing many Portuguese and as i was a UK company,all of them could not get their tunnel vision brain to come to work and do the job,all you get all day is this is Portugal,as if the country is some super power.,all of them had exactly the same opinions almost clone like.The myth of hard working comes from the fact they have very long lunch breaks thus work until late into the evening.
They have a chip on the shoulder because they do not know how to be free,so choose to think they are more respectable than the English,in reality they are worse acting more like the Victorians,and we know how false and stupid they was.The Portuguese love to criticise,but hate to be criticised them selves.

After so many replies to the thread, we decided to let Portuguese have another go. So this year we went to Tenerife. I have to admit, that it was better this time, we even got decent American food. I think the place was owned by Americans (Playa de las Americas?). Anyway, friendlier people and no-one was trying to force catlic faith to us.

Maybe I was too fast to judge all Portuguese.

Well fist of all the fonetics in portuguese is very different from spanish. The way we write and speak is very different. In Galicia the language is similar to ours because, due to muslim invasion a few centuries ago, the portuguese people were forced to live in Asturias, which is in Galicia. Only later we managed to reconquer our entire country. The king who manged that was called D. Afonso III. And The difference between Las Canarias and Azores is manly its geographical localization and language, of course. They speak spanish in Las Canarias. To be honest I really don't know to what sin you are referring to.

First of all I am Portuguese, not mexican. You say I have no respect for my betters?? I respect everyone, also I find every human being equal (except of course, people that do harm to others).
