Im interested in your religion, are you catholic, protestant, baptist? what does the vacations in portugal have to do with God? God should always be put away from (poopy) right? But everything you are doing here is racism, calling portuguese of spanish, gypsys, whatever... if you are going to say its just the truth whatever, if i called a fat boy fat it would be the truth, right? but it would still be an offense. As a Portuguese evangelical Pastor, from the northern territories, I would like to say that this thread mirrors a lot of problems in current day cultures, both Portuguese, Spanish and others.

First, referring to post number 1:
I am sorry, but if you pay for €2000.00 aparthotel, then you were ripped off.

I personally know of several that are a few hundred euro cheaper. And also, a simple google search will find you much better places, for much cheaper. Please keep this in mind before posting such diffamatory insults. This only serves to destroy our already failing tourism industry. Please do not do this, or at least search your FACTS on GOOGLE.

Second, about Portugal being the gay capital of Europe: This is simply not true. We are also the epicentre for lesbians, transgenders, transsexuals. Please seach here for data to backup my claims: portugalgay.pt/guide_uk.

We also suffer greatly from a very large influx of Transgendered people from Brazil (Mostly in Lisbon) and of Transexual workers (From Spain). This has been the main area where myself and my ministry have been hard at work to prevent.

Please do keep in mind that there is a small community of people in Portugal who are still heterosexual, or at least not deviant in any sexual manner. Although I realise that generalisation can be applied when there is a majority, I cannot say much against this.

There have been studies carried out that prove that Portugal's high incidence of homosexuals stems from 2 factors in our history:

1 - Portugal was part of the Arab-Muslim world for slightly under five and a half centuries following the Umayyad Caliphate conquest of the Iberian Peninsula in 711 until 1249. Hence, we are all haf-arab.

2 - A lot of people say Portugal is a district of Spain. Some people deny it.
But not very many people know that in fact, Portugal WAS very much a district of Spain. (But in 1383, Portugal was let go on a technicality, although we did take with us a lot of Spanish culture). This includes very open attitudes to same-sex relationships.

As most of you realise, Portugal has hit a huge recession recently, due to improper credit use. Most people in Portugal own a house, 2 cars, and statistically, we own 3 cellphones per person. There would be no way to do this, without using personal credit agencies, and taking out very large credit schemes.


The big problem is that while most Portuguese males work in the construction sector, most women are work at home moms. This leads to a large consumption rate of alcohol, primarily in the female side, which conversely leads to the male population to drink, out of sheer desperation.


Now, while I do concede that we have a very large gay and alcohol problem, please do not forget all the good things in Portugal.

Please do not forget that some people are trying to do good, by converting the gays, saving the atheists, and preventing family alcoholism.



I thank you for being able to provide a place where we can post the truth, envangelise god, spread his word, and expose the truth of individual nations, in order for people to be informed.
