Do you not realize where the term Portugese came from. It is an ancient word from ancient times and is actually written in God's "Book of Words".

What it means is not very flattering but easy to understand if you break it down.

Portugese (translated into modern English) means; Port! you geese.

You see, as in today, as well as ancient times; the Portugese would show up on your shores in hastily built wooden boats and camp out on the nearest beach until someone took them in.

So, "Port, you geese" was an inside joke amongst the natives to stop you disgraceful sandbaggers from showing up on their shores and defacating everywhere. Just like geese do.
