That would mean god likes poor people right? And he wants poor people to stay poor. So it makes more sense to put in rich in the hate list than poor right?

Sorry to disappoint you, dear, but chess wasn't invented yet when the Bible was written. Of course, God dictated the Bible, and, thanks to His Infinite Wisdom, He knew that it would be eventually invented. So He decided to speak against chess in a more oblique way (so that the writers of the Bible wouldn't be guessing why they were required to write about something that did not exist).

It's a foreign, non Christian practice (Leviticus 18:3), and as such it can be dangerous to your spiritual growth (Ephesians 4:27, 5:11, 1 Thess 5:22). As such, it cannot be pleasing to the Lord (Ephesians 5:10). Basically, when you play chess, you divert your mind from praying, and that is not a good thing!

    I hope that was clear.

Isn't it! Fortunately it isn't entirely extinct, Sister. There are still Akkadians speaking their ancient language in the Canadian Maritimes.

I'm sure that you will be more than happy to know that your mission has been already accomplished! A few centuries before the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, in fact.

However, if your desire is still to travel to Babylon, I won't stop you.

    Greetings Baptists

Since I have come to Babylon to pursue my education and become a physician I have made it my task to study the white people. We have a few of them in Jamaica which is my home who are not tourists but they mostly stay inside. Here there are very many white people and I have been able to gain a good overstanding of them. I believe that Jah clearly hates the white man. It is the white man's greed that runs a world in need.

The white man used to live in Europe and they only persecuted other white people. Then the white man decided to persecute the whole world and they stole most of it from it's rightful owners which were people of color. I believe that this is why Jah is so angry with the white man and that is why people of color are now to be in charge again all over the world. It is the will of Jah that the white man be returned to his home which is that part of Europe that is not Muslim.

I myself have been called by Jah to come to Babylon to assist in his work and hasten the destruction of Babylon. To that end I have become an activist involved with the people in their work to end white nationalism. I myself am a very caring Black man and my white Baptist friends may be assured that once victory has been achieved that I will be your champion and none will molest you. At least not much anyway.

    Jah Guide!
    Trevor

God gave us free will to either follow Him blindly or do whatever the hell we want. The rules are spelled out very clearly in the Bible: those who follow God blindly will be rewarded in Heaven, those who do whatever the hell they want will end up in, well, Hell.

Now, stop being an ungrateful little brat, thank God for giving you the gift of free will, and make a proper use of that free will by following the Word of God 100%.

In an earlier post [HERE] you were telling us about things Jesus would or wouldn't like. One very important thing is for children to hate their mothers. What would your Jesus think about that?

It's right up there with also hating their fathers. Parents are also required to hate their children and brothers & sisters also need to hate one another. That means the parents would hate aunts and uncles (from the child's perspective) since they (the aunts and uncles) are the parents' brothers and sisters. Now you could come in here with "aha, but should they hate their in-laws?" who obviously would already be hated by their own parents, children, brothers and sisters. This is an opportunity for you to comment on whether Jesus would want that or not.

Looking forward to your reply. Remember to provide evidence for your position, source material supporting your claims for example.

Oh ye of little faith! Don't you know Satan will plant seeds of Negative thoughts, Doubt, Independence, Anger, Discontentment, Fear, Autonomy, Shame, Resentment, Frustration, Self-determination, Envy, Despair, Pride, Feelings of qualification, Jealousy, Depresion, Violence, Bitterness, Self-rule, Lust, Fury, Vengeance, etc. He will place these in your mind just to see if you will water it and allow it to grow in your heart and reproduce in your actions. Be mindful of his tricks. You can reject his seeds through prayer, praise, reading the Word of God, positive thinking, and prayer! Then you will see the Will of the LORD need not make sense - it only needs to be a PRIORITY in your LIFE!

If you want to argue the point, find somewhere in the KJV where God rewards initiative. I'll wait.

That really doesn't matter when it comes to the truth.

Without dopamine, the body starts to feel weak, without motivation, resulting a false tiredness. All this can be a result of receiving the news that a loved one has died. The brain is trying to process this, so that's why it can take up to several weeks for dopamine production to become stable again. Now, imagine all of this, but for months, and years. That is depression. Constant pressure from surroundings such as school, leads to constant sadness, a lack of the three chemicals and an increase in Monoamine oxidase and Adrenaline. And it get's so bad, the brain develops anxiety, twisting everything to fit it as an attack, an insult, something bad. A loop. That's why Depression doesn't go away without help. By whom were they depleted? The brain itself to make processing easier and to protect itself. In no way am I saying Jesus is wrong, but these things are very real. And if your child get's diagnosed with clinical depression, if your friend gets clinical depression, the last thing they need is a bible. What they need is support, therapy, and a change in surroundings. Maybe why no Christian has "Never" had depression, is because they have hope. They had a decent childhood, (I'm not gonna assume though, idk) Sorry for the long post, but this is what was needed to explain.
The reason no Christian has ever had depression is because brain chemistry cannot affect the Holy Spirit, who lives in us and gives us joy, peace, hope (Gal 5:22-23) and a stable mind. Can the Holy Spirit ever be depressed (Mt 25:21) or anxious? He transforms our carnal minds into the mind of Christ. Can the mind of Christ ever be unsound or in need of "defence mechanisms"?

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

1 Corinthians 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.

I do, however, find myself agreeing with your point towards the end that a good Christian upbringing probably insulates people from depression, perhaps even if the children apostatise in later life. All the beatings with the rod, the isolation from the rest of society, the constant threats of hellfire and the strictly hierarchical structure of the home instill in children a firm resiliency and sense of purpose in life. God does, after all, know best how children ought to be raised: He created them.

    Until He comes,

Thank you for replying. It is true that there are chemicals in the brain. They constitute part of "the flesh" and their responses, although chemical reactions in the narrowest sense, are responses to events in the world of fleshly desires. These include different types of fear: the flight response, the fight response and the freeze response. For instance the desire to run off very quickly is the flight response and requires neurotransmitters to activate muscles and so on.

Christians follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and seek to emulate His example. The only exception is that we cannot allow ourselves to be killed so a gift of sinlessness may be offered to others. Christians, in this case, are people who have accepted that offer.

If the love of God is no more than a certain configuration of neurotransmitters and hormones, surely a system of "meditation" could be developed to evoke that configuration? And sure enough there are people who do say that, or something similar using words from an era when no-one had heard of neurotransmitters. They do not acknowledge Christ, therefore they are not Christians. They are not part of a group commanded to be perfect.

Some of them propose "gods" and some do not. Tantric yoga would be an example of the first and prostrating oneself before the buddha is an example of the second. It could be argued that anything one prostrates oneself before in that moment becomes. a god but I'm not commenting on that specifically.

Rather I'm considering God as described in The Bible. It's impossible for us to see the world as He does. For example, God created time. We exist within it. Perhaps you could say we are inside looking out while He is outside looking in. One day, however, God entered into time. Knowing that we could never appreciate His perspective He was nevertheless able to explain what we should do in the situation He now understood from both sides. Obviously some of those things are surprising, because we only see a small part of the picture. To use your example, our responses are limited to the interactions between neurotransmitters and hormones which in turn are influenced by all sorts of extraneous things. The fragrance of a perfume or the barking of a rabid dog all elicit desires having little to do with the Heavenly realm. The Bible.—.our only source for what Jesus taught.—.records God's encouragement (if we are to be His disciples) as follows:

    PEOPLE WE MUST HATE
    • Christians are disciples of Jesus.
    • Jesus commands Christians to hate:
      • their own lives
      • their sisters
      • their brothers
      • all their children
      • their wives.†
      • their mothers
      • their fathers

    EVIDENCE

Luke 14:25-27 And there went great multitudes with him: and he [Jesus] turned, and said unto them, If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

† Note: wives are not permitted to hate their Husbands.
