  • Fake news controversy

I keep hearing about this fake news controversy and I keep thinking, how am I supposed to know the difference between real news and fake news? I have spent the last fifty years trying to figure out what is real news and what isn't and I still haven't figured it out.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

It is relatively easy to find real news, Brother. You will find it here, on Fox, and Breitbart. All other news sources are tainted, biased, or outright fake.

Remember too, that only the Bible is REAL Truth(tm). All other sources of information are subjective.

I separate real from fake news by the person delivering it. Conservative/Christian personalities provide us with real news. You may have other favorites but mine are Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

Agreed, Mr. Hold. In addition to the person delivering it, I also look into any of their affiliations and their potential agenda in reporting. Right now there is a real attack on our conservative True Christian values. If it does not fit with the teachings of Holy Scripture, I automatically know that Satan is in it and that story is propagated solely to lead masses astray. Matthew 22:37-38 gives us our greatest commandment. If the news does not follow this commandment, it is not true news but false news sent to turn our young Christian soldiers into deceived liberal homosexuals and revilers who shall not inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

Simple formula: count the number of USA flags on the screen at any moment. Multiply by the color saturation level. Add +1 for every attractive female under 35. Add +1 for every elderly man over 70. Subtract -1 if they have reporting from live in the field (except for local weather).

A high score = more true news.
If I have seen further, it is by standing on the heads of others.

Um, subtracting -1 is the same as adding 1 (because double negative).

Yeah. How are you supposed to know it's raining unless you see some guy (token minority, affirmative action "diversity" hire, probably) getting wet?

As other users in the thread have said, in general, Fox News, Brightbart, Bill O'Reilly, and Rush Limbaugh and of course here on Landoverbaptist tend to be good sources for delivering unbiased news. Though detecting the nuances beyond that can be a bit complex. eg. What about the occasional bad Fox News host like Megyn Kelly? I can't just automatically assume a story is accurate just because it comes from Fox News, so just to be extra cautious sometimes I try to ensure at least two of the sources mentioned above discuss the story. Beyond that, it just takes a careful eye and alot of experience. Sometimes you get stories that appear on lamestream biased news but may not be as prevalent in the sources mentioned above. I hate to brag, but I myself have alot of experience at filtering out fake news to remove the bias.

Here are some examples of biased news stories I've helped correct to remove the bias.

A place where parents can get good Godly advice on how to raise a family: how to properly administer corporal punishment, which movies to avoid, and more!

If you ever feel like you're having trouble determining the accuracy of a particular news article feel free to ask and I'd be happy to help.

                  Re: Fake news controversy

I've always found it easy to tell what is real news and what is fake news. No one would ever discuss Jesus unless it was real. God'd never let it go to print unless it was the Truth(c), just like the Holy Bible.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Thank you for this timely reminder, Brother. I've printed these out to send in our Christmas Cards this year to unsaved family and neighbors.

I wonder if Pastor Zeke isn't working on a LandoverBaptistNews.com website as we speak? It seems he would be able to call on all the same journalistic resources and "tell it like it is" attitude as Fox News. Perhaps the ladies could do an Aunt Abbey column and the men could focus on the real topics.

Would it be the position of the pastors that fake news is ok as long as it glorifies our President and/or leads souls to Christ?

In that case, it wouldn't be fake news but alternative facts!

Fake news has obviously gotten more advanced. Now the Russians are piling on with fake memes.
