    SPAM, The Greatest Industrial Food is Expanding

    All of Freehold's State of Iowa is celebrating. The God-given Hormel product, SPAM, is building another plant two hours east of Freehold in Dubuque. SPAM is pork that comes in a can. It originated near Iowa in Austin, MN.

    SPAM is the perfect counter point to this liberal hippy thing about organic and fresh food. Pigs are raised in factory hog farms, so efficient there is hardly room for a pig to turn around. The pigs are killed in the SPAM factory and go right into the can.

    No country in the world has food factories as efficient as the U.S. Iowa is proud to be part of that.

    Iowans working at Hormel will be producing more Spam to meet demand (desmoinesregister.com)

    The tight confines of the packaging reflects the living space afforded to the product. I like the symmetry.

      I offer a can of SPAM at my motel's continental breakfast. However, I can't claim to be a major customer of the company, as I only bought the one can in 1998 and haven't had to get a new one yet.

        Fear not Brother Lukes. The SPAM will still be good long after pigs have ceased to exist as an identifiable species, if the evolutionists are to be believed. Keep that can safe and one day DNA may be extracted from it to restore a "missing link" in the evolutionary path. Again, that is, if we are to believe the evolutionists.

        Although if we believe in evolutionists, surely pigs - at least the snout and genitals - would have evolved into a can shape to better fit their purpose.

          I heard some rumors that you are undercutting the company by making your own version. Tastes like pork alright they (the ones that escaped) say.

              Since SPAM has become an Iowa product, I've been giving visitors at City Hall a gift of a SPAM cookbook. People are really appreciative of this gift.
