I fear that this struggle is a lost one, and that the land of the bogtrotting micks is irrevocably damned. Still, we must respect them for trying.

Twenty-five years after Northern Ireland's gay rights campaigners first defeated Rev Ian Paisley's infamous quest to "Save Ulster from Sodomy", a new war against homosexuality is being waged on the streets of Belfast.
In 1982 Rev Paisley and his Free Presbyterian Church tried to stop the introduction of a gay age of consent. This time the church and its political allies are attempting to block new laws that will protect gay and lesbian people from discrimination by hoteliers and guesthouse owners.
Under changes that come into force today Northern Ireland is to trailblaze regulations which make it unlawful to refuse goods and services to people on grounds of sexual orientation.
In response, an alliance of church and political groups, has gone to the High Court in Belfast to try to have the law overturned, saying that they discriminate against Christians and their teachings.
For P A MagLochlainn, 61, who was at the forefront of the campaign to stop Rev Paisley and his crusade it is a case of history repeating itself.
"Before we had the age of consent the police would raid homes and guest houses and drag people out of their beds.
"If they couldn't find anyone in them then they would check for pubic hair. Even after 1982, when we won the battle, I still saw people being beaten up just for snogging in public," he said.
One of the clerics leading the new church alignment is the Rev Eric McComb who has said that he is prepared to go to prison rather than see the new laws come into force.
He told the Belfast Telegraph: "The Pentecostal movement, on the basis of Holy Scripture, views homosexuality as being deviant and sinful."

Just another sad example of the persecution faced by Christians the world over, I suppose.

Very enlightening piece Brother Temperance. I had no idea that there was anyone in Ireland who was NOT a sodomite. Being drunk mary-worshipers for centuries will make the sodomite lifestyle seem quite innocuous I would think. Even normal.

Uhh..they needed to have a gay age of consent? The general one couldn't apply to them? And where in the Bible does it say that you can't serve food to sinners?

How on earth could anyone, of any age, "consent" to sodomy? It is a legal absurdity. Next they'll be wanting to introduce an age of consent for murder.

And where in the Bible does it say that you can't serve food to sinners?

1 Corinthians 5:11But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

We are commanded not to eat with fornicators!

Their efforts are very noble, but those Christians ought to get off that rock as soon as possible. I've got a feeling—call it a hunch—Jesus is cooking up another famine.

Well there are age limits as to when a person can be tried as an adult. So the idea is workable!

We are commanded not to eat with fornicators!

They don't have to eat with them, just serve 'em! I'm pretty sure they're already eating with hetero fornicators and idolaters (it's Ireland after all, home of the Cathylickers!) and the rest.

That is no excuse for them to pile sin atop sin!

If we help the ungodly, we shall receive the wrath of the LORD.

We are not to receive unbelievers into our homes, or even be polite to them.

6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

Separate and unequal is the way God likes it. If you bake cakes for homers, you might as well just go right ahead and sacrifice a Christian baby to the Pope, for you are unclean in the sight of God.
