8 years after this sickening film was released, and still the violence continues...

'Shrek' in armed city store raid





A man wearing a Shrek mask who robbed an Edinburgh store at knifepoint is being hunted by police.

The incident happened on Sunday at about 0910 GMT at the Scotmid store in Oxgangs Road North.
Pointing the knife at staff, he ordered them to empty the £400 contents of the till and 200 cigarettes into a bag before he ran off.

The thief was white, 5ft 9in tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a dark hooded top as well as the Shrek mask.
A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: "This is a very serious crime in which the suspect has used an unusual method to conceal his identity.

"We are now appealing for anyone who recognises the description of the male to contact police immediately. "Similarly, anyone in the area at the time who can provide information to help with our enquiries should also come forward."

But then, what effect do we expect a film like this to have on poor innocent impressionable children? A movie that glorifies Ogres, and other Satanic creatures?

Right, I can't begin to point out where you've gone wrong here.

I'll point out the one of most glaring errors here - Its Scotland, not England, so as a (mostly) proddy nation it would be Church of Scotland.

And anyway, surely the whole point of the story in Shrek is about accepting people for who they are? But hey, why not concentrate on skewering an animated childrens movie based on entierly fictional events!? It's not like he spent the whole time gutting children, pillaging and raping coastal town viking style? I mean, for the sake of all reasonable thought - can't you complain about something that actually matters? The repression of christianity in China would be a good start for a religous forum, no? Ah you'd rather pick on satanic creatures - thats good, many a time i've been walking though my local woods and satans computer generated spies have tried to convert me to a life of sin and an eternity burning in the pits of hell. I'm actually struggling to convey my sense of frustration.

Which brings me onto my second point, your getting all this damming evidence from the Bible? That book has been edited more often than George Bush's wikipedia article by every priest, king and religous nut for thousands of years. Basically, its like me taking spiritual advice from defaced cave paintings.

Surely, if there is going to be any copy cat acts its going to be because the lad got clean away rather than his dressing as a fictional character? I mean, really, would you be up in arms if I robbed the Scotmid shop dressed as Jesus? No, you'd jog along to your computer and complain about the "sickening youth of today".

I'd also like to point out to you very nice folks that i'm an athiest and i'm tolerent of your faith, also on a more interesting note - I'm the lad who got robbed at the store and a mate of mine pointed his place out to me.

Has anyone even bothered to check where the real Shrek was at the time of this robbery?
