Boise commandments vote to be first in nation
BOISE -- November's upcoming vote on whether to display a Ten Commandments monument in a public park will be a first.
Win or lose, the commandments vote will be the first time a city's voters and not a court will decide where the religous tablets can appear. That's according to the Christian Newswire.
Brandi Swindell, of the Keep the Commandments Coalition, says he hopes other communities across the country will take Boise's lead and allow similar voter initiatives.
In March of 2004, the communist Boise City Council removed the Ten Commandments display from Julia Davis Park.
After Christian activists sued, the Idaho Supreme Court decided the question could go to voters this November.
