I was home-schooled in a Christian academy, and it was nothing like this. I even graduated at the age of 16 from high school due to my upbringing as a cradle Christian. The bible says nothing positive about treating your family badly. It says spare not the rod, but it also says a man's wife is to be treasured as the ruby of a crown, and that the children of the next generation are important. Also, the bible says, 'God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of peace, love, and a sound mind.' Deliberately creating fear, despair, and hopelessness for those he claims to love is not Godly at all.

On a slightly different note, I'm a saved, baptized, and purified 18 year old virgin. I don't think it's fair to say that I'm a heathen without any knowledge of who I am or what I do.

A "cradle Christian" ... Well, you seem like a fine young man who, unfortunately, was denied a True Christian(tm) education at Landover’s Victory Preparatory Academy. I don't see any point in arguing with you, but I would like to point out that your False Christian education has left you hungry for the meat of the Word and has filled your head with misconceptions about Jesus, Father God, and the abundant life He has promised for us (as Brother Zeke has already been gracious enough to point out to you). Have you never wondered what Jesus meant in Matthew 10:34?

Yes, I've seen it a few times while studying the bible. But I don't think that this verse has to do with how you treat family and loved ones. Whether they are enemies, hated or otherwise. In Romans 12, my cited source, it tell us explicitly what to do with people we may or may not get along with:

1) Keeping yourself pure in mind, body and spirit is our reasonable service to the Lord.

2)Don't conform to the World. In this context, it seems to mean secular life and morals. And by renewing the mind, prove the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God. (On a personal note, I once fasted on water for 17 days as a way to clear my mind to God's will. And 14 days when trying to better understand a problem.)

3-5) No man amongst us should think himself higher than he really is, rather that he truly and justly deal with others as God has dealt us all in faith. Because we are all part of a body in Christ, as well as each other.

There's so much info in this one chapter of the bible on how we should treat one another and how to deal with our enemies while being able to live peacefully with everyone.

If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give your place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome of evil with good. Romans 12:18-21

Why do I need to assure men of my purity. That business is between me and my future husband. I've never done those acts and I can say with a clear conscience that at the moment, while I'm not in a relationship, this matter is between me and God. Nobody else. No one has a claim on my hand, I've never been raped, and I have no plans on changing that. While this ring is still on my finger I belong to my family and God alone, and would not lower myself thusly to experience carnal pleasures.
