Traditional New Year's Eve fireworks in the Belgian capital Brussels have been cancelled because of a security alert.

The Christmas market will close at 1800 instead of staying open all night, and even the ice rink will close early. "We are still facing a potential threat," a spokesman for the Belgian capital said. The alert follows police saying they had discovered a plot to free a jailed al-Qaeda suspect, Nizar Trabelsi. He has denied any such plot*.

Thank you Pastor. I am still quaking in my Special Landover Foreign Ministering Boots that our lovely True Christian ladies provided me with.

I am so terrified, that I almost wanted to ask Brother BJ if he would mind sending over some people for my protection. Of course, I realise that this would be way too much to ask, as Landover needs all the protection is currently has. I'll just have to bite the bullet, and regularly change my underwear.

Incidently, we do kinda, temporarily, reluctantly (rejecty ?) have some kind of government - until Easter. The first action this new government took was - issuing this alert. So I guess that's a start. The prime minister is ... the one who lost the last elections, so perhaps he was handpicked as well, it's hard to tell from the trenches, with only communist newspapers as my source of information.

The BBC article also mentions the fact that Trabelsi came to Europe as a pro-footballer. More proof that the only reliable "football" is AMERICAN FOOTBALL. You don't see terrorists do touchdowns in the NFL, now do you?

Anyway, this was me reporting from Belgium, hoping to see another day.

(CNN) -- Dutch police raided five homes in Rotterdam early Monday, arresting three men suspected of planning an imminent act of violence, according to a spokeswoman for the Netherlands' Justice Department.
Two of the suspects, aged 31 and 32, are Dutch-Moroccan and the third is a 39-year-old Sudanese man, spokeswoman Desiree Leppens told CNN.
She said special police forces conducted the raid after the Justice Department received information from General Intelligence and Security Services on the three men.
"We got the information yesterday evening and around 6 o'clock (Monday morning) we had the first arrest," Leppens said.
Dutch authorities have launched an investigation and must charge the men by the end of the week, she said. She said it is too early in the investigation to elaborate on what charges are being considered.
She had no other details on the raid or what led authorities to the suspects.

No I wont, Mr. Leaky. And I'll tell you why.

Not because Belgium has such a good record of keeping prisoners somewhat in the vicinity of their "jail", but because I have made a deal with Mr. Trabelsi's guard. He will allow me an hour in his cell to teach him the True Christian™ Scripture. I will make sure he understands that he is backing the wrong guy, and does not want to mess with Baby JESUS so soon after his Circie.

He will no longer be Allahu-Akbaring after I am finished with him, mark my words. He will be on his way to Salvation, not Pakistanistan.

(PS: I know Pakistan isn't really doing well in the FIFA ranking, but are they so desparate they need this old guy for their team ? )

Dear Mr. Wash, the attack Mr. Trabelsi planned was against a military base that has a few of our beloved (and forgotten) nukes stacked. So he was about to damage US property.
