    Romania has a witch problem

As though you didn't know that witches were a problem:

Romania may get even tougher on witches

BUCHAREST, Romania – There's more bad news in the cards for Romania's beleaguered witches.

A month after Romanian authorities began taxing them for their trade, the country's soothsayers and fortune tellers are cursing a new bill that threatens fines or even prison if their predictions don't come true.
Didn't I just touch on false prophets in Day 271. Micah 1-3?

This is a good law for two reasons.

    1. It jails or fines all people who give false prophecy/soothsaying. Gets all those fake witches off the streets.

    2. It shows who the true witches are. Which will allow the people to know who to burn at the stake when the crops fail.

Have you ever heard the argument from wanna be witches that Exodus 22:18 doesn't mean witches?

Exodus 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

They are all like "it doesn't mean witch, it means well poisoner".

There are myriad examples of that hooey on our forums.

    Raven fire said it here.

    Shadow's slut said it here.

Some stupid website here says the same thing.

In January, the government changed labor laws to officially recognize the centuries-old practice of witchcraft as a taxable profession, prompting angry witches to dump poisonous mandrake into the Danube in an attempt to put a hex on them.
Oh, so angry witches dump poisonous mandrake into a river.

So, either way, these people are both witches and poisoners.

Sometimes, she argued, people don't provide their real identities, dates of birth or other personal details, which could skew a seer's predictions. "What about when the client gives false details about themselves? We can't be blamed for that."

The new bill would also require witches to have a permit, to provide their customers with receipts and bar them from practicing near schools and churches.

    Tanase has a solution.

"Maybe they should put a spell on (Prime Minister Emil) Boc and (President Traian) Basescu, so they can find the solutions," he said.
I'd think a real prophet would be able to tell if their client was lying.

Think about Saul in 1 Samuel 28. The witch should eventually be able to figure out if the person is lying.

If not, they are false prophets and should be jailed.

It seems to me Brother V that Romania is encouraging more witches so they can have more tax revenue. But then they are in bed with those witches and want the witches to bail them out of financial ruin. It is backfiring.

The best policy is not to get into bed with witches. Besides, most of them won't look like Elizabeth Montgomery anyway.
