    Philadelphia Wafer Cult Closing Churches

    It's hard to find good news as we enter into the summer of the 6th year of the scourge of Obamunism upon the land, but news of the continuing demise of the cathylick wafer cult is definitely cause for celebration. Evidently the dose of "new pope" is finally wearing off to reveal the same old bead counting, indulgence peddling, mary worshiping, wafer cult it always was.

    Our very own Pastor Deacon Fred welcomes all "fallen away" cathylicks to come on over to Landover Baptist Church to ensure their Salvation®.

    Philadelphia Archdiocese to close 16 parishes

    Merging one parish into another is "like someone dying or losing a child," Father Salvatore Pronesti said during Saturday afternoon Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Bridgeport.

    "A mother, actually," he continued, referring to the namesake of the Montgomery County parish he has led for 20 years, only to see it become part of Sacred Heart Parish in Swedesburg.

    In all, The Inquirer has learned, the church decided to close 16 parishes, merging them with 13 neighboring parishes. The status of the remaining 17 parishes will not change. This will leave the archdiocese with 219 parishes, down from 266 in 2010, when it launched a systemic push to review and downsize its facilities.

    The closings made public Saturday reflect powerful social factors. For many years, the Catholic Church, here and nationally, has suffered from a decline in attendance at services. Since 2003 alone, average weekly attendance in the five-county archdiocese has dropped by more than a quarter, to about 250,000, official church figures show.

    Merging one parish into another is "like someone dying or losing a child," Father Salvatore Pronesti said during Saturday afternoon Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Bridgeport.
    Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
    brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.
    ...and get off my lawn
