Things are getting ridiculous when the Des Moines Police Department stops roosters from deciding who gets the hens. They raided a small businessman and took all of his chickens.
God mentions roosters several times in the Bible. He trained roosters to give us notice of when someone is lying (Matt. 26:34) and perhaps other important information. It is not a sin to place wagers on which of these noble animals will kill the another. I think we may have a religious freedom issue here:

The animal control officer could see that a majority of the birds had been physically groomed in a way consistent with preparing them for cockfighting, including the removal of the combs and wattles from their heads, an act which can reduce the risk of severe blood loss when animals are injured during a fight, according to the report. The birds also appeared groomed to facilitate the attachment of spurs or metal blades, the officer wrote in the report.
