  • Public Notice: Library Book Storage Plan

Public Notice: Explanation of the New Library Book Storage Plan.

This is to annouce a new long term storage of some City Library book holdings. This plan will preserve certain books indefinitely for posterity.

This plan resulted from observation of what happened to a former Mayor, now an international celebrety, Mrs. Sarah Palin. When Mrs. Palin was the Mayor of Wassilla, AK, she went to the City Library to inquire as to how certain books, or, a certain book entitled Pastor, I'm Gay, by Pastor Howard Bess, could be removed from her City's Library. This innocent question led to the accusation that she actually wanted to ban certain books. This may not have been her intention at all. She merely asked a question.

Here in Freehold, we will not be banning any books. The program I am implimenting will solve the problem of books that have passed the Library Publication Review Board but should not be allowed to be read by any adult or child of Freehold.

After the Library Publication Review Board has approved a book, a committee of myself and the Pastors from Landover Baptist will do a further review. Books that do not reach the level of acceptable moral content will be designated for immediate long term storage. Books in long term storage will not be catalogued. Thus, it will be cost prohibative to retrieve any of these books.

My thanks to everyone who helped assemble this program.

Pleasant fall reading to you all.

    Johny Joe Hold, Mayor

So, if you don't see it's not there? Is this a government strategy you learned at a conference?

If after say 1 year of not being cataloged will the books then be sent to the incinerator? We might need to make room for cataloged books.

Is it true that this is the storage facility?

I must say, it looks very sturdy, and as though it has ample capacity. Good choice, Mayor!

Good questions, Brother Davis. The books will be there, still owned by the Library, in the Library inventory and in the card catologue.

The only difference is that the card will be stamped In Long-Term Storage.

Bless you Brother. As a child I enjoyed going to the library, I always wanted to let my sons do the same. Unfortunately in Canada there were just too many liebral books to safely let them in the doors. Now that we've moved to Freehold I feel that my children can enjoy things like this again.

Thank you for protecting our children!

Notice: Change in Policy, Library Book Storage Plan

Due to some calls I received, there will be a slight change in the program I earlier posted.

Some citizens feel I have put in place a "de facto book ban". This seems unreasonable to me because I did not offically ban any books. Nevertheless, to accomodate these concerns I am making a policy revision:

Library users may APPLY to check out books which have been placed in long term storage. They will be allowed to ACTUALLY check out the books when the books are retrieved from storage.

There currently are no employees available to retrieve the stored books.

The only way such an employee can be provided is by either reducing the Police Force, and leaving the community at the hands of rapists and theives, or, reducing the Fire Department, increasing the risk of death by fire.

I hope this addresses directly any concerns that the program might be a book ban. If there are other questions, please do not hestiate to give me a call.

I might further suggest, Mr. Mayor, that the names of folks seeking such books be reported to Pastor Ezekiel immediately.
Jud 1:15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are unGodly among them of all their unGodly deeds which they have unGodly committed, and of all their hard [speeches] which unGodly sinners have spoken against him.

Great suggestion, Brother Reb. Perhaps if Pastor Ezekiel would call on the folks who request these books they might withdraw their requests.

This would save us all money and maybe save some souls at the same time.
