Report to the Citizens of Freehold
While everyday is a sunny day in our lovely City, some days seem to go little better than others. I had one of those "others" last week.
The City Engineer came to me with a building permit, that is the permit contractors have to get from the City for buildings people intend to construct, and he wanted me to see something. It was for a gas station and convenience store.
Everything in the plan was in order except, as the Engineer noted, there was only one public rest room. Men and ladies would have to share it.
I was outraged. The Engineer said our building code had been altered during the winter by the City Council. I could not attend our City meeting back then because I was busy dealing with the snow issues. The Council members met late one night and changed the requirements.
I want all you, the best citizens any Mayor could have, that I will not stand for unmarried men and women sharing public rest rooms. It just strikes me an immoral. It's bad enough that, so I have been told, homers use these facilities as well.
To make a long story short, this change has now been overturned and the code is back to normal again.
I want to thank you, my friends in Freehold, for your continued support.
Let's all look forward to a wonderful summer season.
