It's an honor to provide you, the citizens of Freehold, with my annual, MAYOR'S THANKSGIVING GREETING.
This year, I want to talk about debt. Yes, the Lord's Prayer says "Forgive us our debts", but this does not apply to poor people. The poor have Christmas credit card debt and PayDay loans. They need our encouragement to get these paid off.
My understanding of the phrase, "Forgive us our debts" is,"Get a second job, then, don't squander the money."
So, this Thanksgiving, help a poor person by telling them about the joy they will experience by working themselves out of debt.
And, to all of you, a most Happy Thanksgiving.
