As many of you know Iowa is suffering the worst flooding in its entire history. Many towns have been wiped out, while others are just inundated and might recover. Our hearts go out to the poor people of our state, and we want to do all that we can to help with the recovery.
Many people have already left the areas of destruction, and Landover has already hosted 2 Christian families from Palo, Iowa.
Since so many will be fleeing the destruction of their homes I feel that the proper thing to do would be to have a community beautification day here to spruce up the image of Freehold so that visitors or people passing thru will feel that this place was spared by God the disasters of the flood.
Youths aged 9-15 will meet at the library to do general pick up and debris removal, while those aged 16-19 will spend the day with donated mowers to help trim any patches that are growing over.
The Ladies of Freehold have been paying close attention to bush maintenance which will add an additional element of glory to our beautiful town.
The men of Freehold will likely be washing and shining their cars and doing maintenance on the outside of their houses. Cobwebs need to be cleaned from under eaves, and window screens need to be cleaned out.
The local street sweeper has agreed to make a third pass this month, on the second Wednesday. Usually he only comes the first and third Wednesdays, so remember to move your cars from the street to your driveway so that he can clean easily; you don't want to have to clean up to the curb yourself, do you?
- Where: Various parks, schools, and other locations all around the city.
- When: Saturday June 14.
- Who: Freehold Rotary, The City of Freehold, Carrie Sharroll Real Estate, Bloomathon, StreamKeepers, Little League, Freehold schools, Cub scouts, boy scouts, girls scouts, and YOU!
How to get involved: Adopt part of the city - pick up trash and come to the plaza at noon for a celebration and prizes! Turn in the trash you collected and get a prize!
