    Good work, public works

I'd like to take a moment to recognize the Freehold public works (FPW) department for their timely attention to repairs and their attention to detail.

The crosswalk at the corner of Heaven's Gate and Morning Sun was in much need of repainting. Thanks to a little extra prodding we were able to double the number of stripes per yard to make the crosswalks more visible. This should give folks a little extra sense of security when crossing the street.

However, the placement of the new green children crossing sign is a little strange. "I saw the sign after I felt the children going under my wheels, officer." Maybe it was meant to be on the other side of the street, facing uphill?
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

    Re: Good work, public works

There have been quite a few know-it-all peacenik hippy graffiti vandals recently. Here's a street sized hippy symbol:

This is intolerable. It is also not a classified street symbol and has no business being painted on a city street.

I did notice this good example of public upkeep. You can barely make out the offending symbol under the coverup:

    Here's another view:

If we only had a system of CCTV cameras to record the city's streets we could catch these vandals and charge them for the cost of covering up their graffiti. These feeble protests are not welcome, and the culprits will be prosecuted when they are captured.

Anyway, guys, thanks for getting out and covering up this problem for me. I was getting tired of looking at it.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

Thanks to a popular effort, the local stop signs have been re-painted by the public works dept. I'd like to make a special thank you to Randy, Geoff, and Reynold for their part in this effort. Stop signs all over freehold have new paint on the asphalt to make them more recognizable.

Remember to stop all the way before passing a stop sign. Rolling thru is not acceptable and will be treated as a moving violation by local officers who are monitoring these areas.

      Thanks,

      N. King

Wow, Freehold sure is a polished city.

Out my way, the 40 mile road to town is still dirt and gravel. Once a summer though, the chain gang comes along and shovels it, then the local company that services transformers and recycles auto oil sprays some sort of tar stuff down. Certainly keeps the dust down and as a side benefit, kills all the mosquitoes (some birds too, but they crap on my truck so who cares).

The kids love it when the gangs are working. The boys go out in their lifted picks and spin the tires giving the inmates a show. Occasionally, a few jigaboos get blinded by the flying gravel but it is all in fun.
I used to let the girls go with the boys to enjoy it too but found the girls were teasing the criminals. A few inmates escaped and ended up in one of my out buildings and sadly were shot during target practice.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
