Why does god say to kill nonbelievers and then tell you to follow the law of the land? What makes you choose to follow this command and not the one about killing nonbelievers? Why would god contradict himself by giving you two commands that contradict one another? You can't possibly follow both laws.

Speaking as someone who does understands that no person has any way of knowing for certain that god exists, because none of us has seen him, I would just like to give you a bit of advice. If you cared about saving people, you would not treat them like trash. You would be understanding and compassionate. I know that your thread says that you need to be harsh so that you can save sinners but how many people have you actually saved using these methods? Clearly its not working as you are not in power in this country. You have not converted me nor will you by using abusive language and hate.

If you approached debating in a different manner, you would not be me with such resistance and would probably be able to get some people opened up to your dialogue. However, since Christians continue to be hateful and abusive and violent, you are going to continue to be pushed out of society. Its gotten to the point now where even when someone trying to spread the word of god using kind words, they are shut out because the hateful Christians have poisoned the though of God by trying to use fear and intolerance to "convert" people. Your hate is hurting your cause.

I cannot give you a four year Theology degree in a paragraph. When JESUS spoke those words in the New Testament, he was trying to keep the radical faction of the JOOS from provoking the Romans. He understood that if they did, the Romans would sack Jerusalem and destroy the Temple of David. They didn't listen, Jesus died temporarily, and the Romans sacked Jerusalem and destroyed the temple.

Context is everything. You have to know Who was speaking, When, Why, and to Whom to understand what they were saying. Further, you need at least a four year degree simply in the geography of the Holy Lands and when and where the tribes were, how they interacted, which country was in ascendancy, (Egypt? Rome?), and all of THEIR history as well, for they are all intertwined. You have to learn the works of Flavius Josephus, a Jew who converted to being a scribe for the eventual Emperor of Rome.

Do you understand that you cannot just open the bible and read a verse and assume it applies to everything? That is not the case. There are seeming contradictions in the Bible if you do that. But if you study constantly for forty years, you will begin to understand it.

That is why we Pastors can usually find the appropriate verse to provide guidance in any situation (not always, for we are imperfect creatures and JESUS kept many secrets for His return)....but the lay person, who comes in here to argue with us has no comprehension at all, either of the meaning of the Bible, or the Word of God.

Now Sister, imagine that you have been to every place that Jesus walked. You understand when he spoke and where, the political situation at that time, and the message he was trying to give to the people to save them from themselves....knowing all the while that they would not listen and would, in fact, kill him for offering them Salvation®.

And then imagine that you are assigned, as a Pastor or a student, to this board...which is a college course for acolytes, and is designed to give them the knowledge and willpower to keep GOD's love in their hearts and minds despite the hundreds of God-mockers who come in here on a daily basis to argue about something of which they know nothing, with an emotional argument which has no merit. Some of ours fail and never become Pastors. Some Pastors have to be reassigned from here before their time. Jesus merely asks us to do our best. He expects no more from us.

Firemen rescue people who WANT to be rescued with all their heart and soul. Being a Pastor means trying to rescue people who either don't believe they are in danger at all, or don't want GOD's word or simply don't know enough to care. People have free will. They can choose not to be rescued. They can choose to worship SATAN. They are free to do that. But we are still required to give them the chance for eternal life. We can only do our best.

Jesus wasn't murdered. He was legally executed, which was part of His plan, so He could die temporarily on Good Friday and rise on Easter Sunday, the Third Day.

I am going to ask questions and get things clarified so that I may truly understand them. Afterall, if I am to be converted, then I must know the intricacies of the faith so that I may go forth and convert others. Isn't that true? By the way, I was simply asking for Bob4God to respond since he was the one who told me about the passage to which my question was aimed. I felt that he should tell me what he thought. Are you able to tell me what he was thinking and his interpretation of the words? Are you going to speak on his behalf, because if that's so then I would be happy to talk to you about it.

I'm having a nice conversation with Pastor Al E Pistle. He is responding without hatred and I have no problem with that. I continually have problems with you and Pastor Ezekiel however, because you both continue to attack me. I will endeavour to answer your questions. I am blessed by JESUS with infinite patience and the desire to bring you Salvation(tm) before you leave, should you ever leave (many find peace here).

But we will have to begin at the beginning. I cannot answer for another Pastor, nor shall I contradict one; for none of us are perfect, and none know all the answers, save one. JESUS.

The answer to your question is simple.

GOD's word used to be the law of the land so there was no conflict between GOD's rules and human rules. It wasn't until liberalism and science perverted everybody's minds that humans got arrogant enough to decide that GOD's law wasn't good enough for them.
